Casey's Announces Plans for Area Stores

March 9, 2017

Casey’s General Stores will open in Belleville and Monticello on March 14, 2017. Casey’s will also have locations in New Glarus, Verona, Janesville and Evansville.

Sam Jones, Director of Finance for Casey’s General Stores, said in an email that the New Glarus Casey’s will be a 4,300 square foot building with six fuel pumps. It will be built on the site that was the home of Swiss Lanes for many years.

Plans are for the New Glarus store to open in August or September 2017. Jones added that the New Glarus store will be the company’s latest store design. It will offer Casey’s made-from-scratch pizza and donuts, made-to-order sub sandwiches, and a large coffee and fountain area. No other fast food franchises, such as the rumored KFC or Taco Bell, are planned. Stores of this size typically employee between 20 and 25 people.

According to Jones, the other locations will undergo significant upgrades and the company has plans to replace the Belleville store sometime in the future. The Monticello store has an A&W in the store and that will remain. Jones said that it is not uncommon for Casey’s to spend up to $1 million per site to remodel an acquired store, which adds all the prepared food offerings noted above and completely refreshes the interior of the stores. Remodels usually take between 6- 9 months to complete after a store is acquired.
