Annual Turkey Drop in Belleville

The Belleville Middle and High School held their 6th Annual Turkey Drop on November 10th and it was a huge success!!  The goal this year was 42 turkeys.  This was met and went beyond with 48 turkeys donated, along with 62 boxes of potatoes, 66 cans of mandarin oranges, 73 boxes of orange Jell-O, 84 jars of turkey gravy, 86 boxes of stuffing, 30 cans of green beans and $1,400.00 in donations that were all donated to the Belleville Food Pantry.

Many thanks goes out to so many in the Belleville community to make this the success that it has become, including: Doris Diaz, Turkey Drop Founder and Advertising; Bob Gentilli and Theresa Schultz, along with their Middle School Students, for handing out flyers at the UFO Days parade and at the Belleville local businesses and Mr. Gentilli's class for prepping the turkey dinner bags; Nate Perry, Media advertising; Betty Wolff, Middle and High School announcements of this event along with having collected donations and providing an amazing turkey costume; Julie Sutter-Blair, Advertising and inventory assistance; Todd Hackman, Media Advertising, Turkey Night assistance; Doug Brown and Marian Viney for the huge Turkey in the Park; Julie Uebelacker, Advertising; Heather Schmitz, Turkey Night assistance; Emma Vogel, Turkey Night assistance; Bev and Bob Flanagan, Belleville Food Pantry Volunteers; All of the students and adults that greeted vehicles, handed out thank yous and organized the donations coming in on Turkey Drop Night; Village of Belleville for letting us put the big bird in the Library Park.

Each and every one of you that came out that cold night to drop off your birds, fixings or gave monetary donations, thank you.  There were many donations from families, local clubs and businesses, including a $250 donation from Peterson Tech, and a 10-turkey donation from Monona Bank. 

Last but not least, a huge thank you to Burreson's for advertising for the Turkey Drop, storing birds and fixings at their store and being so generous with their donation!

Thank you to all who made the 2017 Turkey Drop a success - your kindness and generosity helped so many have a very Happy Thanksgiving!!
