New Glarus Boys Win Over Belleville in Hwy 69 Rivalry

Knights Remain Undefeated

The New Glarus Knights faced off against the Wildcats from Belleville on Friday, January 19, 2018. The Knights won, 76-54.

The New Glarus boys basketball team played at Marshall on January 16th. The Knights took an early lead and by halftime were up 57-31 over the Marshall team. Marshall attempted to mount a comeback during the second half but fell short to the Knights. The final score was New Glarus 98, Marshall 79.

Despite missing one of their usual high scoring players due to illness, four Knights scored in double digits for the win. Jaden Kreklow poured in 24 points for the team, while Cullen Brooks scored 22 points. Zach Feller was 2-2 from the free throw line and scored 14 points and Connor Siegenthaler put 13 points on the board.

The Knights would carry their enthusiasm and skill to their next game, which took place on Friday night against Highway 69 rival, Belleville.

The Knights held a large lead at the half and won the game, 76-54.

New Glarus was led by Jaden Kreklow, who was 2-2 from the free throw line, and scored 20 points. Trevor Gassman scored 14 points, Cullen Brooks scored 12 points and Zach Feller scored 10 points.

Leading Belleville was Jared Schulting with 15 points, six rebounds one steal, one assist and one block. Brock Kelly scored 14 points and had three rebounds and one assist while Cole Myers scored 6 points and had two rebounds and Austin Fahey scored 6 points and had five rebounds and two blocks.

New Glarus hosted Cuba City on January 23rd and will stay home to play Cambridge on January 25th before hitting the road to play Wisconsin Heights on January 30th.
