Cub Scouts Hold Annual Spring Clean Up Event

Cub Scout Pack 61 held their annual spring clean up. On Saturday, the Cub Scouts cleaned the Sugar River Trail. They collected about 15 bags.

All Girl Scout Event Last Weekend

The Belleville Daisy Troop #1531 went to an all Girl Scout event at Winnequah School in Monona titled ^Be Prepared^" this last Saturday. They learned about emergency situations and about being safe. The Daisy Troop earned their Gerri Petal-Respect Authority."

The annual Belleville Community-wide Garage Sale Weekend is set for Friday, May 1, and Saturday, May 2.
A registration form is available in this week’s Sugar River Connection and Post Messenger Recorder, as well as both Francois gas stations, the Belleville Public Library and the Belleville Chamber of Commerce Facebook feed “Belleville Wisconsin.”

Brothers with Autism Receive iPad

Brennan and Tanner Meland, brothers with autism, have recently been awarded an iPad by the Belleville Kiwanis. Autism is a developmental disorder characterized by difficulty in language development, social skills and repetitive behaviors. iPads are a great tool for the child with autism for both communication and education. The iPad benefits the Meland boys in the classroom using video technology to support behavioral change, assist with transitions and allow for more structure and predictability throughout their day.

Belleville Students Participate in Math 24 Competition

Fifteen Belleville Intermediate students and six Belleville Middle School students competed in the Math 24 competition at Union South in Madison in March. The event is sponsored by the Greater Dane County Advanced Learner Network. Math 24 tournaments are based on the Math 24 card games produced by Suntex. Work with the game fosters basic facts, mental math, problem solving, and patterning.
This year the Belleville District had one team in fourth grade and two teams each in fifth and sixth grade.

Local Police Assist With Drug Enforcement

The Brodhead Police Department, assisted by the Wisconsin State Patrol, Green County Sheriff’s Department, Rock County Sheriff’s Department, Evansville Police, Orfordville Police, Belleville Police, New Glarus Police, Rock County Special Investigative Unit, Wisconsin Department of Corrections division of Probation and Parole and the State Line Area Narcotics Team, conducted a drug interdiction enforcement campaign on Friday, April 17, 2015, from 5:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m., in the Brodhead area.
