Belleville Baseball Falls to Pecatonica

On Thursday, April 2, 2015, the Belleville baseball team faced off against Pecatonica. The Vikings won the matchup, 13-4.
The Wildcats had six hits and five errors while Pecatonica had nine hits and two errors.
Starting on the mound for the Wildcats was Scott Schwoegler, who pitched two innings in the loss. He struck out five, walked two, and hit two batters. Drew Shrader then came in and pitched three innings; Shrader had three strikeouts and three walks. John Gorski was brought in the final inning where he walked two batters.

New Glarus Softball Team Wins Over Pecatonica, Loses Two Other Games

On Thursday, April 2, 2015, the New Glarus softball team matched up against Monticello. The Ponies defeated the Knights 5-0.
The Knights had four total hits, with Ashley Judd contributing two of those.
On the mound for New Glarus was Riley Parker; she had four strikeouts, two walks, allowed six hits, and allowed only two earned runs.
On Tuesday, March 31, the Knights played Pecatonica, winning in a close game, 13-12.
New Glarus had a total of 11 hits, lead by Paige Bump with three hits. Maya Kramer and Kelly Fredrickson both had two hits as well.

Ponies Dominated by Evansville

On March 31, Monticello baseball squared off against Evansville. The Ponies lost 18-0. Evansville had 18 runs, seven hits, and no errors while Monticello had zero runs, one hit, and six errors.
For Monticello on the mound was Pusel, who pitched an out for the Ponies. He had five runs, five earned runs, zero hits, six walks, and one strikeout.
Spahr then took over, pitching two innings and two outs; he pitched six runs, five earned runs, four hits, three walks, and two strikeouts.

Montesian Gardens Meeting Scheduled for April 14

Montesian Gardens are gearing up for another blossoming season and will be meeting April 14th, at 7:00 p.m., at the Village Hall.  Volunteers who plant and care for plots all summer and fall are urged to attend, as well as anyone interested in maintaining a bed or helping water ,weed or prune.  We also welcome ideas or comments on how to improve the gardens.  You see and meet many interesting visitors while working there.  It’s amazing how many passerby visitors the flowers and Veteran’s Memorial draw into the village as they travel Highway 69.

Spring Fling and Village Wide Garage Sales

Before you toss everything for Spring Cleanup on April 20, 2015, the Monticello Chamber of Commerce is happy to announce, by popular demand, a spring village-wide garage sale being held Friday, May 15, 2015 and Saturday, May 16, 2015. Times may vary to the individual holding the garage sale. Register for the garage sales at the Monticello Village Hall. Maps will be made available at the Village Hall, Gempeler’s Supermarket, both located on Main Street in Monticello, Greenwoods State Bank, and Francois Citgo Station, located on HWY 69.

Belleville High School to Host Red Cross Blood Drive

The Belleville High School Student Council is proud to be hosting the annual Red Cross Blood drive on Wednesday, April 15, in the High School Gymnasium from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  We have a goal of collecting 35 or more units during this drive and we welcome all students, parents, and community members to get involved!

Senior Elizabeth Erb has been excited about science since middle school, recognizing her teachers for opening her mind to vast career opportunities in science.
Erb is participating in the Youth Apprenticeship Biotechnology Program at Belleville High School.

New Glarus Area EMS to Hold 40th Anniversary Open House

On Saturday, April 11th, the New Glarus Area Emergency Service will celebrate its 40th Anniversary with an Open House from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The Open House will be held at the New Glarus Area EMS station at 401 3rd Street, New Glarus. The REACT helicopter will be at the Open House from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. (pending weather or emergencies). Refreshments, including brats, hot dogs, chips and drinks will be available.

Habitat Resale Store Opening in May in Monroe

Habitat for Humanity of Green County announces the opening of its Habitat Resale Store, a home improvement thrift store, May 2015. The grand opening date will be announced soon, but donations being accepted now, along with recruitment of volunteers.
Habitat Resale Store is located at 1001 30th Street, Monroe, WI. The days and hours of operation will be Monday 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., Thursday 12:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m., and Saturday 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
