New Glarus Vision, along with many generous donors, purchased and donated over 1,300 books for Pre-K to 2nd graders at New Glarus Elementary School. There were enough donations that every student received at least four books. The program is in conjunction with the New Glarus Public Library's Summer Reading Program and was sponsored by the New Glarus Community Foundation, Betty Owen, Gary Cook, Lois Wainwright, Rachel and Dan Frye, Butch and Chris Kiesz, Jane Martinson, Peter and Sharon Etter, Mrs. L.K. New Glarus FFA and NGSD School Garden Partner to Bring Container Gardens to New Glarus Home Campus

First, the School Garden earned two grants. One from the Wisconsin Medical Society Foundation to fund a garden grid irrigation system. This system corresponds well with the raised garden bed boxes and square foot gardening method employed by the School Garden by providing the grids for planting and delivering water directly to the roots for healthy plants.

New Glarus 6th Grade Enjoys Wyalusing

The 6th grade class, along with chaperones and staff, made their 51st annual trip to Wyalusing during the second week of May. Before getting to Wyalusing State Park, the group stopped at Stonefield Village in Cassville to tour the home and farmstead of Wisconsin’s first governor, Nelson Dewey, enjoy country school lessons first hand, watch a blacksmith at work, and enjoy a delicious ice cream cone! The funds for this portion of our trip were made possible by a grant received from the Excellence in Education Fund.

Greetings from the 2015-2016 New Glarus Dairy Queen

Hello, my name is Ashley Kay Ann Judd, daughter of Jeff and Melanie Judd. I am a sixteen-year-old sophomore at New Glarus High School. I grew up on a farm about seven miles outside of New Glarus, where I was raised around the dairy industry, cats, dogs and beef cattle. My brother and I have always competed with each other, whether it was with homework or who could do the most chores around the farm, it was always a competition.
