Golf Outing to Benefit the United Way

The United Way of Green County’s 13th annual Golf Outing and Raffle is being held on Friday, August 21st, at Decatur Lake Golf Course in Brodhead.
Registration and lunch begin at 11:00 a.m., with a shotgun start for golfing at 12:30 p.m.
Golfers will enjoy an afternoon of fun, great food and the chance to win lots of prizes, including a 70” LG HD Smart TV, Badger football and basketball tickets, autographed Badger items, patio furniture, golf packages and CASH!

Dane County Parks Archery Limited Access Permit

For archers interested in applying for a 2015 Dane County Parks Archery Limited Access Permit, the timeline for submitting an online application is Wednesday, July 29, 2015, through Friday, August 21, 2015. 
The program provides opportunities to hunt deer and turkey on specific county lands to those archers with the required State licenses.
The program now includes approximately 5,000 acres of county lands.

Save the Date for the Fifth Annual Wildcats Gridiron Club Golf Outing

The fifth Annual Wildcats Gridiron Club Golf Outing will be held on Saturday, August 15, at Edelweiss Country Club in New Glarus. 
This is a fun opportunity for you to join your family and friends for a day of friendly competition and fun in the sun — all while supporting the Wildcats Gridiron Club!
Registration and lunch begins at 11:30 a.m., and golf at 1:30 p.m.  There are plenty of prize opportunities. 
The Wildcats Gridiron Club raises funds in support of the Belleville football program.

Participants Earn Gold Medals at National Taekwondo Tournament

Students from Monroe Martial Arts and New Glarus Taekwondo competed in the National Taekwondo tournament in Omaha, Nebraska, at the end of July.
Each student on the team competed in forms and sparring.
Sadie Conway and Carrie Quinn each earned two gold medals.
Gabriela Golubov, Raven Neath and Nicholas Kohn each won one gold medal and one silver medal.
Hannah Derrickson got one gold and one bronze.
Chris Capps earned a gold medal.
Isaac Derrickson and Wyatt Emmerton each collected one silver and one bronze medal.

Sugar River Senior Center Holds Grand Opening

A grand opening for the Sugar River Senior Center, located at 21 S Vine St., was held on Friday, August 7, at 10:00 a.m.
There were speeches given by a few politicians, followed by an open house and lunch.

Notice of Roadwork Planned for Tuesday, August 18th, 2015

The Green County Highway Department will be sealing the entire road surface on Tuesday, August 18th (weather dependent). A preservative asphalt sealant will be sprayed on half of the street, from the outside curb to the centerline, at a time. No parking signs will be placed the day before and any vehicle parked on these streets after 6:30 a.m., Tuesday, August 18th, will be towed at the owner’s expense.

Pfund Celebrates 95th Birthday!

On Saturday, New Glarus Fire Department honored Herman Pfund with an escort and firetruck parade to his birthday party at Puempels Olde Tavern.
Family and friends accompanied Herman in the 1933 fire truck, with other NGFD equipment following behind.
