Local Law Enforcement Attends WI Chief's Training

Law Enforcement executives from Green County recently attended the State of Wisconsin Chiefs of Police Law Enforcement Training Conference, held in Wisconsin Dells. During the President's Banquet program, the guest speaker was Medal of Honor recipient U.S. Army Retired Sergeant 1st Class Sammy L. Davis. It was a pleasure to listen to his story and have our photo taken with this American Hero!

Jones’ Plumbing discovered early on that it was not going to be easy to remain in first place in their battle against the Norsk Cowboys. The match was tied at 396, with all the scores recorded in the eighth round except the game between Greg Stutz/Chris Booth (Pipe-Benders) and Ferdie Schmitz/Tracy Thronson (Cowboys). After several hours of euchre, it all boiled down to who could win the last game. It was Greg and Chris who pulled out a 15 to 12 victory, giving the Pipe-Benders the win and a first place slot in the standings.

Hunter Education Class to be Offered

The Belleville, Wisconsin, Hunter Safety Education instructors invite those interested in hunting and recreational shooting to enroll in a Wisconsin DNR Certified Hunter Education course. It is recommended that the students be 12 years old in order to take advantage of license incentives offered by the DNR. The minimum hunting age for hunting without having to comply with the new hunting mentorship program rules is still age 12, and the hunter must first complete a hunter education course if born on or after January 1, 1973, or have completed basic training with the U.S.

Donate to the Gift of Community Silent Auction

The New Glarus Gift of Community Reception will be held on Sunday, March 12, 2017, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., at the New Glarus Hotel Restaurant. This year’s event is different from past years – it’s a free reception and open to the public. There will be free appetizers, door prizes, a cash bar, and a Silent Auction to benefit the New Glarus Community Foundation Fund.

Town of New Glarus Looks at the Need for High Speed Internet

The Town of New Glarus recently surveyed residents to determine satisfaction with Broadband services in the area.  The results posted on the town’s website, www.tn.newglarus.wi.gov, show that nearly 70% of New Glarus residents use DSL for internet service; the majority of internet users have service speed up to 5Mbps; and just more than 81% report they never, or only sometimes, receive the speed they pay for. A staggering 84% of the respondents are not satisfied with their internet service.

New Glarus Wild Game Feed

Enjoy an evening with fellow outdoor enthusiasts, laughing, eating and talking whitetails on Saturday, February 25, 2017. The Wild Game Feed will be held at the New Glarus Bible Church, 619 3rd Avenue, with dinner beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Key note speaker, Terry Baxter, is an Iowa State Representative and is co-chair of the Iowa Sportsman’s Caucus. Baxter is an avid sportsman, an accomplished bowhunter and a well-traveled, enthusiastic speaker.

Feel Good About Giving Back by Donating Blood

Many people want to give back to the community, but may not have a lot of time to volunteer. The American Red Cross reminds eligible individuals that in only about an hour, volunteer blood donors can help save lives and feel instant gratification.
Blood is a perishable product that can only come from generous volunteers. By donating blood, individuals can make a difference in the lives of patients in their community and throughout the nation.
