Ruth Duerst, age 88 of New Glarus, left us on February 20, 2017, to play the golf courses of heaven with Paul, her beloved husband of 46 years. She was born on September 21, 1928, in the Town of Adams, the daughter of Oluf and Olga (Flattum) Stenbroten.

<strong>St. Cloud State University Announces Fall Semester Dean’s List</strong>
St. Cloud State University, St. Cloud, Minnesota, has announced the names of more than 1,300 students whose academic achievement placed them on the 2016 Fall Semester Dean’s List. To be eligible for the honor, students must have a grade point average of 3.75 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
<strong>Hannah Jones</strong>, Belleville, was named to the Dean’s List.

Belleville Forensics Team to Compete in Stoughton

The Belleville High School Forensics Team will be traveling to Stoughton for the Sub Districts Competition on March 2.  We host Districts meet on March 16th.  We have a full team with the maximum entries of 25 this year, and we hope to continue a strong traditional showing at the State meet in April.

New Glarus Man Killed in Accident in Florida

Charles Burton, 46, New Glarus, was killed on Saturday night in Florida, while attempting to cross Interstate 75.
A report on the <i>Suwanee Democrat</i> newspaper website said that Burton had left his vehicle and tried to cross the southbound lanes near mile marker 455, just north of the Jasper and Live Oak exit of I-75 when he was struck and killed.
It was further reported that according to the Florida Highway Patrol report, Burton’s vehicle was parked on the northbound side of the interstate. Charges are pending in the investigation the report states.
