Belleville and New Glarus Police Assist with Multijurisdictional Traffic Safety Detail

On Friday, June 23rd, the Brodhead Police Department held its third annual high visibility traffic safety enforcement deployment. The Brodhead Police Department was joined by the Belleville and New Glarus Police Departments. The Green County Sheriff’s K9 Unit was called in for two of these traffic stops.
Brodhead Police Chief Chris Hughes stated by working together we are creating public awareness and making our communities, streets and highways safer.

Young Receives Phi Beta Kappa

Teresa Young, daughter of Tim and Chris Young, Belleville, was inducted into the Zeta of Florida chapter of Phi Beta Kappa at Eckerd College on May 18. Phi Beta Kappa, America's oldest and most prestigious academic honor society, is awarded to undergraduate students who excel in the liberal arts and sciences. Notable members of Phi Beta Kappa include Theodore Roosevelt, George H. W. Bush, and Condoleezza Rice.

New Glarus Summer Bash

Midwest Dental, along with Roy's Market, Hoesly's Meats, The New Glarus Bakery, and the <i>Post Messenger Recorder</i>, welcomed one and all to the New Glarus Summer Bash. The festival was held on Thursday, June 22, right outside the Midwest Dental office in New Glarus, near Subway and Weaver Auto Parts. There was a variety of fun activities including free food, grilled hot dogs and brats, as well as snacks and treats from Roy's Market, Hoesly's Meats and the New Glarus Bakery; as well as lots of free items and prize giveaways.

Green County Alzheimer's Walk Kick-Off Event July 12

On Wednesday, July 12, the Alzheimer’s & Dementia Alliance of Wisconsin (ADAW) will host an Alzheimer’s Walk kick-off event from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., at First National Bank, 1625 10th Street, in Monroe. Drop in to learn what’s new for this year’s walk, how your walk efforts make a difference, and receive an update on local programs and services. ADAW is pleased to announce Jodi Kegebein and the Kegebein Family as Family Chair, and Dr. Joshua Morrison, Neurologist with Monroe Clinic Memory Center, as Medical Chair for this year’s walk.

Sugar River Soccer Team Awards

The Sugar River Raiders girls soccer team held their end of the year awards banquet on June 14th.  The team awards presented were:  Scholastic Award, Eve Palmer; Defensive Most Valuable, Aimee Sies; Offensive Most Valuable, Kalin O'Rourke; Most Improved, Caitlin Wieser; Coaches Award, Sydney Gentilli.
The Captains for the 2018 season as chosen by the teammates are: Aimee Sies, Kalin O'Rourke, Caitlin Wieser and Sydney Gentilli.  The team would like to thank all their family and friends for the support given during the past season.

Sugar River Rapids Swim Team Wins Heidi Invitational

The Sugar River Rapids Swim Team held their annual Heidi Invitational on Saturday, June 24, 2017, in New Glarus. Teams participating included Belleville, Bishops Bay, Mineral Point, Monroe and Platteville. The Rapids won the meet, with 909 points. Belleville placed fourth, with 175 points.
The SRR team won the Girls 6 and Under 100 SC Meter Medley Relay. The team consisted of Lucy Paradis, Evelyn Marunde, Kennedy Sysko and Nicole Burton.
