Free Physicals for Uninsured High School Athletes

Each year, almost 100,000 students participate in high school athletics in Wisconsin. Of those living in Dane County, it’s estimated that two to five percent lack health insurance to pay for the one thing the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association says they must have before they can even step on the field or the court to practice, a basic sports physical.

Naturally Speaking

Three organisms are now working together to make some birds sick enough to vomit.  Common Milkweeds are beginning to bloom.  This increases visits to the plant by Monarch Butterflies.  The insect may lay an egg on a leaf when it investigates the flowers.  A larva will hatch and begin feeding on the plant's leaves, consuming tissues and some milky latex.

Red Cross is Urging Blood Donors of All Blood Types to Give Now

Summer is an especially difficult time to collect enough blood donations to meet the needs of patients.
Your donation is needed now to help ensure patients don’t go without potentially lifesaving transfusions.
Do you know someone who has never donated before? Please encourage them to make an appointment with you. New donors are needed to help overcome shortages this summer.
The New Glarus Community Blood Drive is being held on Friday, August 4, 2017, from 12:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m., at the New Glarus Bible Church, sponsored by the Swiss United Church of Christ.
