Sugar River Euchre

Two teams remain tied for first place four weeks into the season; just last week there were six. One of those teams, Hooterville, got the Express back on track and then proceeded to push the Norsk-Cowboys down the rail rustling 22 longhorns along the way. Dave Wilborn and Tom Nitwander (Cowboys) were low on the totem pole this week with 71 points. Jones’ Plumbing will be busy repairing the 31 leaks created after the 5th Quarter-Shufflers burst a few pipes of their own. Before the cards were even dealt, the Shufflers knew they had to win to remain tied for first place.

Swim Team Finishes Third in Conference Overall

“It was quite a day for MNG girls in the pool. The JV Medley Relay started out the day with cutting their time by 12 seconds. The team consisted of Anna Latimer, Dee Delforge, Libby Fuller and Laurel Houston,” said Coach Linda Moser about the meet held on October 28th at Monona Grove. “From there the girls posted 13 more PRs before the day ended. This was exciting considering that only the JV was tapered for this meet. Varsity will be swimming at sectionals next week so their taper won’t start till this week.

The Sugar River soccer team lost their sectional game at Mount Horeb on October 26th, 0-1.

Happy To Be Cold

Sweet Sixteen might refer to the number of cross country teams in our division at the State Meet. We carry the excitement of being sectional runner-up, right to the starting line at the Ridges Golf Course in Wisconsin Rapids. The banners and flags snap in the chilling wind so we wait until the last moment to take off our sweats. One minute to go and 182 of the best small school runners toe the line. We earned our way here by running smarter than our years. At sectionals, the wannabes sprinted for the first mile then faded. We ran smarter and finished ahead.
