Sugar River Euchre

It is hard to believe that this year’s regular Sugar River Euchre League season will conclude after this week’s matches with just the Spring Tournament, a possible playoff match, and the Championship match left to be played. That’s right, there will be a championship match after the derailment of the Hooterville Express last Thursday by 5th Quarter ended their chances of being declared this year’s champions outright. Freezing rain that night coated the tracks beneath the Express giving them little traction to climb out of their 21-point first round deficit.

Monticello Village Board Awards Kennedy Street Lift Station Project

The Monticello Village board met on Wednesday, February 21, 2018, with all board members in attendance. The meeting started out with Tom Bonk updating the board on the parking situation near the school. Bonk said that because of the cars parked on South Main Street, the Post Office could not deliver his mail. He added that he had taken an informal survey of the residents in the area and the majority would like to have their mail delivered to their home. He pointed out that it was inconvenient and there was an expense to get a PO Box.
