March Meeting of the Monticello Area Historical Society

The Monticello Area Historical Society (MAHS) will meet at 7:00 p.m., on Thursday, March 22, 2018, in the Zwingli UCC Lounge, 416 E. Lake Avenue, Monticello.
Following a short meeting, Gary Tipler will present an illustrated review on John W. Steinmann.
Gary Tipler, a historic preservation consultant, began his work in the mid-1970s in advocating for historic preservation in Madison's Marquette Neighborhood. He's called the neighborhood his home and is still involved there.

Monticello Lions Club Pancake Breakfast

The Monticello Lions Club and students from the Monticello Spanish Club served over 400 people on Sunday, March 18th. The gym was jam-packed with people enjoying delicious pancakes, Gempeler's breakfast sausage links, applesauce, a variety of cheeses (including Limburger) and a beverage. It was so busy that they had to move in extra tables and chairs to accommodate everyone.

Child Find Program to Be Held at Monticello Schools

The Monticello School District is holding Child Find on Wednesday, April 4, 2018, from 2:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. Child Find is for any child 3-5 years of age, which includes children who will be entering 4K and/or Kindergarten in September of 2018. If your child attended a previous screening it is not necessary to attend unless you feel the need to do so.

MFCC Paints the Night Away

The Monticello FCCLA Community Connection (MFCC) hosted a fun Paint Night to raise funds to support the members of Monticello Schools FCCLA chapters.
The do-it-yourself paint night was held March 15th at T&D's Bar and Grill in Monticello. Signs by Caitlin presented the instructional workshop, and all attendees created a sign of their own to take home and display. MFCC would like to thank both T&D's Bar and Grill for allowing us to hold our workshop at their business and Signs by Caitlin for offering such a fun and festive experience.

Monticello Easter Egg Hunt

The Annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held at the Monticello Village Park on Saturday, March 31, 2018, beginning at 10:30 a.m. sharp. Don’t be late or you’ll miss it!!
The youngest age group is 0-2 years and the oldest age group is fourth grade. The Easter Bunny will be present to greet the children and will also be available for photos.
We suggest that the children wear appropriate footwear and dress accordingly. If by chance it is raining, the hunt will be inside the school. Enter through the playground doors into the old gym. Hope you can join us!

Home Delivered Meal Drivers Needed

Monticello home delivered meal volunteers are needed for up to one hour delivering meals to homebound individuals on Fridays.

Active Killer Response Training

The Belleville Police Department will be presenting an Active Killer Response Training at the United Church of Christ, 130 E. Church Street, Belleville, at 7:00 p.m., on Monday, March 26, 2018. You will learn how to protect yourself, loved ones and others in the event of an active killer, in any environment. This presentation is information only, there will be no scenarios performed.

Coffee With a Cop will be held at the Belleville Public Library, 130 S. Vine Street. Please take this opportunity to have an informal conversation with police officers about what matters to you and your community. There will be no speeches or specific topics covered.

American Legion Duppler-Smith Post #460 is hosting Bingo on Sunday, March 25. The doors open at 12:00 p.m., and Bingo will start at 1:00 p.m. The Legion is located at 2 W. Pearl Street, Belleville.
