Senior Citizen Prom

All area senior citizens are invited to<i> A Night Under the Stars</i> on Saturday, May 5, 2018, from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m., at the Monroe High School, 1600 26th Street, in the M-Room. This event is sponsored by the Monroe High School Key Club and Monroe FFA.
<i>At A Night Under the Stars,</i> you can enjoy live music by the Junction Jammers, a catered dinner by Barb’s Potato Salad and homemade desserts.

Green County 4-H Youth Participate in Foods Revue

Members of the Green County 4-H Foods &amp; Nutrition project recently participated in the annual Foods Revue event on Saturday, April 14, at the Green County Justice Center. Foods Revue is considered a Pre-Fair event of the Green County Fair, and is judged by a licensed fair judge with ribbons being awarded to the youth.
Youth are divided into four levels based on grade and can bring one food item and one educational exhibit to be judged at the Foods Revue. Examples of project options this year were breakfast muffins, invent a snack, stir fry, and a main dish salad.

Ponies Win Second Half of DH Against Cassville

“Monticello finally got to play a baseball game,” said Coach Scott Smice with excitement.
For the next two seasons, Albany has joined Monticello baseball. Beginning this season at the high school level, the two schools will co-op to play a division 4 conference schedule, playing schools from both the Six Rivers East and West conferences and moving up to division 3 for post-season play. Scott Smice remains head coach, Rich Wachholz from Albany will serve as the assistant coach, along with Brian Grossen. Ron Blumer will also be assisting when possible.

Belleville 8th Grade Basketball

The Belleville 8th grade basketball team recently completed a successful season, with a 3rd place finish at the Wisconsin State Invitational Tournament in Stevens Point, April 14th - 15th. The Wildcats beat Turtle Lake, Edgar, Fall Creek, Ozaukee, Kewaunee and Cuba City on their way to a 6-1 record, with their only loss to eventual state champion Mineral Point.  The team is coached by Paul Syse and Jeff Boyum.  Looking forward to watching these boys play together in high school!

New Glarus High School Class of 2018 Looking for Volunteer Opportunities

New Glarus High School students will be giving back to the community by volunteering to help community members on the morning of Friday, May 4th. The Class of 2018 is looking to help senior citizens, businesses and other community members who are in need of some volunteer labor.

New Glarus Post Prom

This year we are planning a Post Prom trip to the newly opened Dave & Busters. The Post Prom Party will begin at 11:30 p.m., loading the buses for the trip and returning to New Glarus and be finished at 4:30 a.m., following Prom on May 5th.
Students that are interested should sign-up in the High School office. Prizes include choice of an iPad, laptop computer, TV and many other wonderful prizes.

New Glarus Bike Rodeo

For seven years, the New Glarus Police Department and New Glarus Chamber have hosted a bike rodeo in early May. A rodeo is a bicycle skills event which provides an opportunity for young bicyclists to practice and develop skills that will help them to become better bicyclists and avoid typical crashes.
This year’s bike rodeo will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2018, from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m., at the Depot on Railroad Street.

New Glarus Public Library Hosted Sensory Walk

Last week the New Glarus Public Library hosted a sensory walk. Attendees had the opportunity to shed their socks and walk through beans, sand, water, sticky contact paper and a variety of other fun and squishy materials. The library plans to host a sensory program each quarter.

New Glarus Middle School Named a PLTW Gateway Distinguished District/School

New Glarus Middle School was recently named a PLTW Gateway Distinguished District/ School for 2017-2018. To earn this distinction the New Glarus Middle School was able to meet specific designation criteria during the 2016-2017 school year. Middle School teachers involved in the PLTW programs are Megan Scheele, Erin Kovach, Bob Wahl and Ross Eddy.
