Monticello Spring Fling and Spring Garage Sales

The Monticello Lions Club is holding Spring Fling this year on Saturday, May 19, 2018. Along with the car show, live music and food stands, the Monticello Fire Department is holding their Pulled Pork Dinner and there will be a Booster Club Kickball Tournament. Monticello School to Hold Garage Sale Fundraiser for Green Cares Food Pantry

On Friday, April 27, as part of the Monticello School District’s Day of Service, a Garage Sale will be held at the school starting at 9:30 a.m.
There will be lots of clothes and other treasures! All proceeds will go to Green Cares Food Pantry.

A Night at the Museum

Be the first to see the Monticello Historical Society’s new exhibit, “Monticello of Yesteryear” on Thursday, April 26, 2018, at the Monticello Historical Museum, 204 N. Main Street.
The event will take place from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m., and there is a suggested donation of $25.00 per person. Enjoy wine and cheese with fellow historians and museum supporters.

FBLA News

Lucas Heiser (left) and Allen Hauser (right) recently represented Monticello FBLA at the State Leadership Conference in La Crosse, WI. While there, they attended opening ceremonies, heard a keynote speaker, participated in several break-out sessions, voted for our new state officers and toured Viterbo University. Allen also competed in the Networking Concepts competition, earning 3rd place. The top four finish qualifies him for the National Leadership Conference in Baltimore this June.

Silent Auction! Bowling! Euchre Tournament!

On Sunday, May 6th, the Friends of the Belleville Public Library are holding a fundraiser at Sugar River Lanes for the new library and community center.  Bowling begins at noon; $5.00 buys a game and shoes and $8.00 for two games. The euchre tournament begins at 1:00 p.m.  The $10.00 entry fee includes a light lunch afterwards.  There will be raffles:  six gift baskets plus a 50/50 raffle with the drawings at 5:00 p.m.  All afternoon you can browse and bid on silent auction items.  Bids close at 6:30 p.m.

Belleville Prescription Drug Take Back Day

The Belleville Prescription Drug Take Back Day addresses a crucial public safety and public health issue. According to the 2015 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, <strong>6.4 million Americans abused controlled prescription drugs. </strong> The study shows that a majority of abused prescription drugs were obtained from family and friends, often from the home medicine cabinet.

Whitney's Academy of Dance Companies Do Well In Competitions

Whitney's Academy of Dance of Belleville currently has four competitive dance companies. The Senior Company consists of Ayisa Ceesay, Emily Elkins, Brooke Everson, Emily Flick, Demarious King, Callie Lahey, Heidi Wegehaupt and Eliza Woods. There are two Junior Company Teams with members Alana Bay, Ava Benash, Charlotte Fox, Haven Hatleberg, Bentley Hotchkin, Taylor Morgan, Anika Pederson, Brooke Roach, Natalie Wahl, Ali Zimmerman. New this year is our Mini Company Team, Liliana Forner, Cambree Moyer and Danaysia Robinson.

SANDRA K. KING

Sandra K. (Kuhl) King unexpectedly passed away at the age of 74 on Friday, April 6, 2018, at her home in Peoria, Arizona.
She is survived by her three children; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren; as well as her brother and sister; and nieces and nephews.
The family will hold a small service sometime in the future to place her next to her mother and father in the Belleville cemetery.

BENJAMIN D. JACKSON

Airman First Class Benjamin David Jackson, USAF, age 20, was killed in a motorcycle accident on April 13, 2018, in Misawa, Japan. Ben was born June 1, 1997, in Chesapeake, VA, and grew up in New Glarus, WI.
He graduated from New Glarus High School in 2016. Ben participated in several sports, including cross country, baseball and golf. He loved snowboarding with his brother and friends.

VALLIERE P. BOLL

Valliere P. Boll, age 84, passed away on Sunday, April 22, 2018, at the New Glarus Home after a long struggle with Alzheimer's. She was born on September 25, 1933, to her parents, Henry W. and Phyllis (Freitag) Pauli.
