Donation Made to New Glarus Public Library

On Monday, April 9th, 100 Who Care Green County presented a $2,000 donation from their members to the New Glarus Public Library Building Fund. The donation brings the Capital Campaign closer to the $1,000,000 needed by the end of 2018 to receive the match from the Village of New Glarus.

Monticello Track Participates in Blue Jay Invite

The Monticello track team participated in the Blue Jay Invite recently.
<strong>Girls Results</strong>
Alyssen Noriega won the 100M dash, with a time of 13.07. Courtney Kammes placed 11th with a time of 14.37.
Placing 3rd in the 200M dash was Alyssen Noriega, with a time of 27.76. Ali Risley placed 8th with a time of 29.49.
In the 800M run, Mackie Errthum placed 5th with a time of 2:49.39. Errthum placed 4th in the 1600M run, with a time of 6:39.32.
In the 300M hurdles, Maggie Bak placed 8th with a time of 56.21.

Soccer Team Begins Season With Two Wins

The Sugar River girls soccer team played against Evansville on April 9th, winning 1-0.
Morgan Hustad scored her first varsity goal, assisted by Ellie Gentilli, on a combination play that started from a corner kick early in the first half.
Goalie Rachael Heittola had three saves.
On April 12th, the team hosted Platteville, winning 2-0.
Kalin O’Rourke scored the first goal unassisted early in the first half, and was assisted with the second goal by Kirsten Krantz.
Rachael Heittola had one save at goalie.

Knights Win Over Wildcats

The New Glarus baseball team hosted Lodi on Tuesday, April 10th, winning 5-4.
Lodi scored in the 1st and the Knights scored five unanswered runs in the 2nd and 3rd innings. Lodi then scored three in the 4th and 5th.
Reeve Binger was 2x2 at bat with one RBI. Connor Siegenthaler went 1x2 at bat with one run and one RBI. Cooper Dreyfus and Noah Zimmerman were both 1x3 at bat and scored one run each. Jared Carney and Andrew Nimtz scored the other two runs.

Blue Jay Invite Results for Sugar River Track

The Sugar River track team participated in the Blue Jay Invite at Cambridge on April 12th. The boys team finished in fourth place with 92 points, while the girls team finished in second with 115 points.
<strong>Girls Results</strong>
In the 100M dash, Kiara Donnell placed 2nd with a time of 13.12. Placing 12th was Heidi Wegehaupt with a PR time of 14.42 and Kyla Jerome placed 19th with a PR time of 15.11.
Placing 2nd in the 200M dash was Kiara Donnell with a time of 27.64. Dylan Noll placed 11th with a PR time of 31.18.

New Glarus Golf Team Finishes Fifth

The New Glarus varsity golf team hosted their first home golf meet of the season at Edelweiss Chalet Country Club on Monday, April 9th, finishing fifth out of eight teams with a score of 180.
“Cole Runde led the way shooting a 42 9-hole score.  Matt Hach shot a 43, Jacob Krantz shot a 47 and freshman Ty Ready shot a 48 and performed well in his first Varsity Meet,” said Coach Jon Goodness.

New Glarus High School Class of 2018 Looking for Volunteer Opportunities

New Glarus High School students will be giving back to the community by volunteering to help community members on the morning of Friday, May 4th. The Class of 2018 is looking to help senior citizens, businesses and other community members who are in need of some volunteer labor.
