Cheese Days Parade Deadline Coming Up

<strong>Float and Unit applications for The Swiss Colony Cheese Days Parade are due July 2, 2018. </strong> Businesses, clubs, youth groups, and other community groups are invited to submit applications for review. 
It is required that all entries be decorated, signed, and themed to reflect themes of cheese, the local dairy industry, or Swiss heritage.

Parker Foundation Provides Opportunity for $1 Million Gift to Blackhawk Tech's Top Nursing Program

Blackhawk Technical College’s nursing program has a lot to celebrate. In addition to the third consecutive semester of graduates achieving a 100% pass rate on the National Counsel Licensure Examination (NCLEX), the program received some great news for future students. The Parker Foundation has proposed a gift that would create a fund of up to $1 million in support of scholarships for the BTC nursing program students.

2018 Dairy Day Cattle Show Results

The 2018 Green County Dairy Days Cattle Show concluded on Saturday, June 16th, with enormous success. This year's show was hosted by the Monticello Community, and took place at the Green County Fairgrounds in Monroe, Wisconsin. There was a great turnout of spectators and sponsors to cheer on the 38 youth from different counties who came out to participate.

New Glarus GAPP Students Leave for Germany

The New Glarus GAPP students left for Germany on June 15th.  They will spend 10 days in Bad Arolsen, staying with host families.  On June 26th, they will travel to Berlin and will meet up with a group of other students from New Glarus. After touring Berlin for a few days they will travel to Prague, Krakow, and Budapest, before returning home on July 4th.

New Glarus HS Band Performs at Cedar Point Amusement Park

The New Glarus High School Band performed at Cedar Point Amusement Park in Sandusky, Ohio, on June 8th and 9th.  While in Ohio the band was also fortunate to visit the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland.

New Glarus Community Blood Drive to be Held in August

Many people want to give back to the community but may not have a lot of time to volunteer. In only about an hour, volunteer blood donors can help save lives and feel instant gratification.
The community is invited to give back and help save lives by donating blood on Friday, August 3, 2018, from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at the New Glarus Bible Church, 207 6th Street, New Glarus.

Monticello Homecoming Approaching Fast

Monticello Community Club would like to welcome you to our annual celebration in Monticello, July 6th-8th. We have many activities that you are welcome to come and watch, and even participate in! Again this year we have the carnival for the kids. The carnival will begin on Friday with Wristband Special, $15.00, from 6:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m. (the only wristband special over the weekend).
Softball tournaments will begin on Friday. The games will continue all weekend.

Community Club Donates to Green Cares

Monticello Community Club Treasurer, Carol Strause (left), giving a $500 check to Green Cares Food Pantry Treasurer Bonnie Friedrichs, for Pony Packs. 
The Pony Pack program helps the 34% of Monticello's elementary students that are at risk of food insecurity while they are home.  Green County Leaders have partnered with the Monticello School District and Green Cares Food Pantry to introduce the Pony Pack Program.
