Board Members Tour New Construction

On Thursday, May 24th, School District of Belleville School Board members took a tour of the new Belleville Elementary School construction project and were invited by their friends at J.H. Findorff & Son Inc. (the contractors of the project) to write a message on a brick and then lay the brick on the exterior wall of the new cafeteria. Board members were blown away by the new educational spaces and cannot wait for the next chapter in Belleville education to begin when the new building opens in the fall.

New Glarus Student Achieves Perfect ACT Score

Ellawyn Fong, a New Glarus High School junior, recently scored a 36 on the 2018 Spring ACT test.  The highest score one can receive is a 36, and Ellawyn reached this milestone during the junior testing session in February.  Her score is the first perfect score from a New Glarus student since requiring all students to take the ACT. Nationally, only about one-tenth of one percent (0.136%) of all ACT test takers earn a score of 36.

New Glarus Friends of the Library Trivia Night

On Saturday, May 19, 2018, the New Glarus Friends of the Library held their annual Trivia Night. It was held at Edelweiss Golf Club from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Teams of up to eight players collaborated on answering four categories of questions. Far from humdrum categories included tasting seven different cheeses – how Sconnie! – and coming up with a blended name of two different celebrities from two clues and a blended photograph.

Eighth Graders Visit Shedd Aquarium in Chicago

On Friday, May 18th, the eighth grade students arrived to school early for a voyage to the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago. After riding a coach bus, they enjoyed many exhibits that revealed the secrets of our planet's water including an entertaining aquatic show and informative 4D movie. It was a fun day filled with real-world connections to a recent science unit about the diversity of life.

New Glarus Area EMS ^Keeping the Pulse^" Run/Walk Fundraiser"

New Glarus Area Emergency Medical Services (NGAEMS) is planning its annual “Keeping the Pulse” run/walk for Saturday, June 9th. This is an important annual fundraiser to support the work of EMS, and every dollar raised goes to support the ambulance service and the equipment it needs to provide around the clock care, 365 days of the year.

Marshall Defeats Belleville

The #2 seeded Belleville baseball team hosted #3 Marshall on May 29th for a WIAA Regional game. Marshall pulled out to an early lead and the Wildcats attempted to play catch up for the rest of the game but fell short and lost, 7-12.
Jaydon Winkers was 2x4 at bat with one run scored and three RBI, while Dylan Gratz was 1x2 at bat with one run scored and one RBI, Austin Fahey was 1x3 at bat with two runs scored, Brock Kelly was 1x3 at bat with one run scored and Drew Shrader was 1x4 with one run scored and one RBI.

Monticello PTO Pony Trot

The Third Annual Monticello PTO Pony Trot will be held Saturday, July 7. The event consists of a 1K Little Pony Run starting at 8:00 a.m., and a 5K Fun Run at 8:30 a.m. The event will be at Monticello Schools, with registration opening on the playground at 7:30 a.m. Bathrooms and showers will be available.

Knights Lose Heartbreaker to Heights

The New Glarus Knights baseball team, seeded #4 for WIAA Regional play, faced #1 Wisconsin Heights on Tuesday, May 29th. New Glarus was leading the entire game until the final inning when Heights put three players across home plate to win by one, 4-3.
Connor Siegenthaler was 2x3 at bat with three RBI, while Cooper Dreyfus was 2x4 with one run scored and Holden Latsch was 1x3 with one run scored. Jared Carney scored the third run.
Noah Zimmerman pitched for four innings, striking out two. Andrew Nimtz and Jared Carney also pitched and struck out two from the mound.
