Monroe Clinic is offering extended hours in June and July to help student athletes obtain the physical wellness documentation needed to play sports in the 2018-2019 school season.

Relay For Life of Green County Event

The entire community is invited to attend the 2018 Relay For Life of Green County event, with the theme “Be A Superhero”. This year’s event will be held on Saturday, June 23, at the Stateline Ice and Community Expo (SLICE) Arena, 1632 4th Avenue West, in Monroe, from 1:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. The opening ceremony will start at 3:00 p.m., and will be a time of celebration with honorary cancer survivor, Joan Walters. All cancer survivors and caregivers will take a celebratory first lap immediately after the opening ceremony.

BMAP Summer 2018 Potluck Excursion

Join the Blue Mounds Area Project for a tour of a beautiful prairie and oak savanna restoration with 25 years of management at the property of Jim and Betty MacDonald, 8596 Sunnyside Road, Blanchardville, at 6:30 p.m., on Thursday, June 21st.   The tour starts at 6:30 p.m., and is followed by a potluck dinner. Free and open to the public. BMAP will be supplying the brats, beer and fixings, you bring a dish to pass. Future tours are scheduled for July in New Glarus and August in rural Argyle. New Glarus Baseball All Conference Selections

The Capitol Conference All-Conference Baseball selections were announced recently.  Six players from New Glarus were named to All-Conference this year.  Congratulations to the following players:  Cooper Dreyfus and Matthew Jackson - Honorable Mention All-Conference, Connor Siegenthaler, 2nd Team All-Conference, catcher, Andrew Nimtz, utility, Noah Zimmerman, outfield, and Jared Carney, pitcher, 1st Team All-Conference.  In addition, Jared Carney was also named Co-Conference Player of the Year!

Single Oak Farm Country Garden Stroll

The Single Oak Farm Country Garden Stroll, 1051 State Road 92, Verona, will be held on Sunday, June 24th, from 2:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. Come and enjoy an afternoon at a country garden with bars and cookies and beverages as you wander about. Homemade pies will be auctioned off and silent auction items will be available for your bidding. If you’d like to donate a pie and/or silent auction item, it would be greatly appreciated.

Athletes Hold Car Wash to Benefit Library

On Saturday, Belleville volleyball and football players held a car wash on Main Street. Proceeds from the car wash benefited the Belleville Public Library. Belleville Library Director Bronna Lehmann would like to thank everyone who came and appreciates the support from the kids, their coaches and the community. The total raised for the new Library and Community Center was $926. Floor plans are on display in the current library's lobby.

Rock Out! Discover Wisconsin's Geological History at New Glarus Woods State Park

Join libraries from across Green County, along with the Friends of New Glarus Woods State Park, for an evening of family fun on Saturday, June 23, from 4:30 p.m.–7:30 p.m., at the New Glarus Woods State Park, W5446 County Highway NN, New Glarus. Activities, including a story stroll and arts and crafts, will be available from 4:30 p.m.–5:30 p.m. There will also be opportunities for quiet reading and trail walking. A presentation by Brooke Norsted of the University of Wisconsin – Madison Geology Museum will take place from 6:00 p.m.–7:00 p.m.

Music in the Park Returns for 2018

The Music in the Park series will continue for the summer of 2018, due to a grant from the Community Foundation. 
The first one is on Sunday, July 15, featuring The Tooles, playing Irish music.  The second concert is on Sunday, July 29, with Squirrel Gravy, a local favorite.  The final concert will be the popular Ukulele group, MAUI, on Sunday, August 12.

Free Fishing Adventure

Looking for something fun to do with your children? The New Glarus FFA Alumni and Wisconsin DNR will be holding its second annual <strong>F</strong>ree <strong>F</strong>ishing <strong>A</strong>dventure on Saturday, June 30, 2018, from 9:00 a.m.- Noon, at Hoesly Pond at the intersection of Hwy 69 and Hwy W.
Children of all ages can participate in Fishing with a Parent. Bring your own gear; some gear will be available to use and bait will be provided.
Lunch will be provided by New Glarus FFA Alumni.
