BMAP Summer 2018 Potluck Excursion

Join the Blue Mounds Area Project for a tour of a 182-acre property featuring a trout stream, prairie remnants, oak woodlands and more on Thursday, July 19, 2018. The hosts are Kris and Penny Kubly, 1801 2nd Street, New Glarus.
The tour starts at 6:30 p.m., and is followed by a potluck dinner. Free and open to the public. BMAP will be supplying the brats, beer and fixings, you bring a dish to pass.
August’s tour will take place in rural Argyle. More info at www.bluemounds.org.

New Glarus Public Library: Aligning Library Services to Core Community Priorities

In May of 2017, the New Glarus Public Library embarked on a strategic planning process to gather community input and data to develop library service priorities that align with core community priorities. First and foremost, the library board and staff sincerely thank the residents, stakeholders, library staff, and library partners who participated in this process and provided valuable input. Now, as we’re set to enjoy July, the strategic plan has been approved by the Library Board of Trustees and there is a lot of excitement as we release this product.

Blues, Brews and Food Truck Festival

On Saturday, July 14, the inaugural Blues, Brews and Food Truck Festival will be held in the New Glarus Village Park from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
According to the festival’s Facebook page, there will be music with four bands featured on stage and music by Dan Phelps between acts.
The first band scheduled is Bird Dog Blues Band at Noon. At 2:00 p.m. will be Ivy Ford Band, followed by Joyann Parker at 4:00 p.m., and wrapping up with Mike Wheeler Band at 6:00 p.m.

The New Glarus Veterans Park recently received a grant from the New Glarus Community Foundation in addition to major donations from the Kalscheur Foundation and New Glarus Brewing Co. to complete the fundraising for the last Marker.

Homecoming Road Closures 

The Monticello Police Department would like to invite everyone to attend the Monticello Homecoming Festivities on July 5 – 8, 2018.  We hope everyone would take the time to enjoy this wonderful family festival. We would like to remind everyone that all alcoholic beverages must be consumed within the licensed establishments and permitted areas of the park. Those found to be consuming or possession of alcohol outside of those areas will be cited for the violation and the forfeiture is $200.50 per offense.

Bastille Day Lakefest Organizers Invite Festival Attendees to Join the French Heritage Foot Parade

Bastille Day Lakefest celebrates Belleville’s French heritage on July 14, from 2:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. Festival attendees are invited to join in a 20-minute walk at 7:00 p.m., that will begin at the Loop, through the foot bridge and end on Main Street. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners of the Youth Run will serve as Parade Marshals. Newly crowned Miss Wisconsin 2018 Tianna Vanderhei will be attending the festival and join in the parade.
