Ice Cream Social at Albany United Methodist Church

Albany United Methodist Church will be holding their annual Ice Cream Social on Wednesday, August 1st, from 4:30 p.m.-7:00 p.m. The church is located at 500 Park Street, in Albany.
On the menu is BBQ Beef, Hot Dogs, Potato Salad, Chips, Baked Beans, Drinks, Ice Cream Sundaes and Homemade Desserts. Prices are a la carte.
All ages are welcome for fun and fellowship, and there will be a bounce house for the kids. All proceeds go towards missions.

The One That Didn't Get Away

Cameron Pawloski, age 9 of Belleville, recently caught a 38 1/2 inch, 13 1/2 pound Northern Pike on vacation in Suring, Wisconsin, on Kelly Lake. It was the largest Northern Pike caught in the lake.
Cameron's brother, 11-year-old Brenden Pawloski, helped to haul the fish in the boat with a net, which the huge fish broke.

Green County Master Showman Competition 2018

The 13th annual Green County Master Showman Competition was held at the 2018 Green County Fair on Saturday, July 21st. This event brings in the top senior (grades 10 and above) showmen in the dairy, beef, sheep, swine, goats, rabbits and poultry departments at the fair. Two youth from dairy, beef, sheep, swine and goats are invited to participate, and one youth is selected from the rabbit and poultry divisions.

Trapper Talk at Albertson Memorial Library

Albertson Memorial Library in Albany will host a Trapper Talk on Thursday, July 26, at 6:30 p.m.
Local resident Bruce Polheber will share his experiences trapping furbearers in the state, show some equipment, tell stories, and inform the audience about upcoming trapper education courses required of all persons wanting to trap in Wisconsin.
The talk is free and open to the public.

The New Glarus Firefest and Alphorn Triathlon will draw visitors to downtown New Glarus from Saturday, August 4th through Sunday, August 5th.
Please make note of the following road closures prior to traveling around downtown New Glarus during Firefest/Alphorn Triathlon weekend.

Support the New Glarus Fire Department at Firefest 2018

The New Glarus Fire Department’s annual fundraiser Firefest, will be held on Saturday, August 4th, beginning at 11:30 a.m. The fundraiser is a great way to support the NGFD, with all proceeds going to the building expansion project. There will be lots of great family friendly activities, food and music. There will also be NGFD Merchandise available for purchase all day. You can win cash at the 50/50 Half Cash Raffles. There will be drawings for the raffles at at: 2:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Tickets can be purchased from firefighters at the event.

The New Glarus School District will again be utilizing an Online Registration process for the 2018-2019 school year. Online Registration will be open from Monday, July 23, 2018, through Wednesday, August 1, 2018, in Family Access.

If you are unable to register online, please attend registration at school on the date listed below. Computers will be available so you can complete the online registration process. When: Monday, July 30, 2018, from 3:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m., in the High School Commons

New Glarus Music in the Park

The Music in the Park series will continue for the summer of 2018, due to a grant from the Community Foundation. 
On Sunday, July 29, with Squirrel Gravy, a local favorite, will perform.  The popular Ukulele group, MAUI, performs the final concert on Sunday, August 12. 
All concerts will be in the New Glarus Village Park and begin at 6:30 p.m.  Watch for weather relocation information the day of the concert.  Mark your calendars, dust off your chairs, or shake out the blankets, and be ready to be entertained.  Looking forward to seeing you in the park.

Electrical Transformer Explodes Causing Widespread Power Outages

On July 19th, an electrical transformer on 4th Avenue in New Glarus caught fire and exploded, causing a power outage in parts of the village.
