Belleville Veterans Memorial Park Deadline Approaching Fast

The concrete has been poured and the flag poles just need to be set in holes prepared. Once electricity is buried for the flag pole, then landscape can begin. Please go to Village Hall, the Senior Center or the Library to view the names of Veterans that have been submitted as of July 3rd to be engraved on monuments. If you know of any mistakes in spelling or reporting, please make note of so corrections can be done.  If you wish to not have your name listed please let us know that also.

What Makes Dairy Grazing Profitable?

If you are a dairy farmer considering incorporating managed grazing in your forage production system, this event is your opportunity to see first-hand how it’s done. Join Green Lands Blue Waters and Dairy Grazing Apprenticeship on August 2nd, at 11:00 a.m., for a pasture walk hosted by Bert and Trish Paris to hear how they made the transition and how their system works. Dairies that include a grazing component are diverse, and there are many pathways to profitability.

School District of Belleville Student Registration

The School District of Belleville will once again be utilizing an Online Registration process for the 2018-19 school year. Online Registration will be open from Wednesday, August 1st through Sunday, August 12th, in Skyward Family Access.
<strong>It is very important that online registration be completed during this time frame.</strong>

ALL students must register online prior to starting school in the fall.

Green County Highway Chip Seal Schedule for 2018

It is Chip Seal Season!  The Green County Highway Department began chip sealing roads on July 23rd and the project will run five to six weeks.  They started in the Town of Brooklyn on Elmer and Benson roads, and then move to the Village of Brooklyn.  Please look for early signs notifying the public that chip sealing will begin soon on major roadways.  These signs will be placed on major roadways two to five days before chip sealing operations.

I was born April 27, 1947, at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin, to Raymond D. Merklein and Margaret M. (Handel) Merklein. I joined my brother, Michael, and eventually our family grew to six children, adding Ann, Steve, Jane, and Susan.

Eduardo Fraire, age 18 of Belleville, died as a result of a traffic crash on Sunday, July 22, 2018. He was born on July 12, 2000 in Mexico, the son of Juan Fraire and Sarai Garcia.

KEVIN J. ACE

Kevin James Ace, 58 of Belleville, passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at UW Hospital, following a motorcycle accident on July 8th near his home. Kevin was born on November 24, 1959, in Belleville to his parents, Samuel and Carolyn (Olson) Ace.

Meadow Valley School to Host Class Reunion

Meadow Valley School alumni are invited to stop by the Meadow Valley School on Sunday, August 5, 2018, between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., to visit their old schoolhouse and share memories with fellow classmates. Light refreshments will be served.
Meadow Valley School is a one-room school located on Meadow Valley Road, outside of New Glarus. The school was in operation from the early 1900s to the early 1960s. The building has been preserved by Bob and Nan Rudd as part of Two Silos Farm, W6355 Meadow Valley Road, New Glarus.

<strong>Thurow Named to Carthage College Dean’s List </strong>
Carthage College has named <strong>Jane Thurow</strong>, Monticello, to its Dean’s List for academic excellence during the spring 2018 term. Dean’s List honors are accorded to Carthage students who achieve a minimum 3.5 grade-point average while carrying at least 14 credit hours during a semester.
