Belleville Class of 1953 Holds Reunion

The Belleville Class of 1953 celebrated their 65th class reunion on Saturday, July 21, at Borlands. A delicious meal and good time talking about school days was had by all. There were three who were unable to attend. We have 10 classmates who have passed away.

Zwingli UCC Brotherhood Steak Fry

On Saturday, August 11th, from 4:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m., the Zwingli Brotherhood Men’s Group will be grilling tasty 12 oz. Rib Steaks to your order. The steaks will be served up with fresh sweet corn, hashbrown potatoes, coleslaw, roll and the most delicious assortment of homemade desserts. They are also serving a kids meal with a hot dog.
Proceeds from the dinner will support Zwingli and Monticello Youth Programing and Scholarships.
The women’s quartet, “One Achord,” will be sharing pop chart hits from the 50s, 60s and 70s.

Belleville Tops $1 Million for New Library

Celebrate with us on July 31st, at the Music in the Park concert from 6:30 p.m.– 8:00 p.m., at Library Park.
“We are so proud of how the community has come together to raise $1,012,000 for our new Library and Community Center,” said Library Board President Christine Belle. “Over 550 people, community organizations, and businesses have made gifts or multi-year pledges.”

Don't Forget to Vote in August 14th Primary

Local voters will head the polls on Tuesday, August 14th, to take part in one of the most significant primary elections in years in Wisconsin. While voter turnout in primaries, even important ones, is traditionally very low, the outcome of this election will play a key role in deciding who the state’s next governor is, as well as shaping a variety of other important races.

New Glarus VFW Color Guard Presents Colors at Green County Fair

Both the Green County and Dane County Fairs were held last weekend. On Wednesday, the Green County Fair honored past and present military men and women of Green County before the Professional Bull Riding and Barrel Racing performance. The New Glarus VFW Honor Guard presented the colors.

Crash in Montrose Kills One

On Sunday, July 22, 2018, at approximately 9:45 a.m., Dane County Sheriff’s Office Deputies, along with the Belleville Police Department, Belleville Fire Department and Belleville EMS, responded to CTH PB, just north of CTH A in the Town of Montrose, for a two-vehicle injury crash.

Registration Deadline for 4-H Day Camp Approaching

The 2018 4-H Day Camp will take place at the Green County Fairgrounds, 2600 Tenth Street, Monroe, on Saturday, August 18, 2018, from 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m., and is led by Green County UW-Extension 4-H Youth Development staff.  The event is for any youth going into 1st-3rd grade (2018-2019 school year), and they do not have to be a member of 4-H to participate.

Cyclists Work-Up Appetite at New Glarus

Saturday morning, July 21st, the MadCity Velo Club will host the New Glarus Time Trial on our country roads north of town.  This is a specialized bike race in which the athletes compete individually against the clock.  The first cyclist starts at 9:00 a.m., at the intersection of 2nd Street and 1st Avenue.  The time trialers are released every 30 seconds and must ride solo for the entire course.  The route goes out on County Road O/G, turns left onto Hustad Valley Road and turns left onto Pioneer Road.  When cyclists come to the intersection of Pioneer and County Road O, they turn left to d

New Glarus Plan Commission to Hold Informal Meeting to Discuss Multi-Family Development on Valle Tell Lot 42

On Thursday, July 19, the New Glarus Plan Commission will hold a 2nd Informal Workshop on Valle Tell Lot 42, Multiple Family Development.
Back in April of 2017, the Plan Commission held an informal workshop with Home of Our Own, Inc. (HOOO) to discuss the idea of the potential development. Members of the group were looking for feedback before purchasing the property and submitting a formal application for review. According to meeting notes, at that time, the Plan Commission was generally in support of the concept.
