Thank You First Responders

Dear Editor,
I am a resident of the New Glarus Home.  While attending a Devotion and Tea activity this past week, we began discussing firemen and ambulance personnel.  How these individuals devote their lives to taking care of all of us, and often time with minimum pay and not near enough thanks.
May you all realize how important your job is to all of us every day.  In a year’s time, you make many trips up the hill to keep us all safe and healthy.

Unsafe Streets and Parking

Dear Editor,
In a four-square block section of downtown New Glarus there are, if my count is correct, sixteen flagrant violations of a state of Wisconsin statute enacted for the safety of pedestrians and motorists.
From 6th Avenue at Railroad Street, west up 6th Avenue to 2nd Street, then north on 2nd Street to 4th Avenue, hence to the east again to Railroad Street. Counting all the blocks and streets bounding and within this four-block area are to be found the above-mentioned violations.

I have one more semester at Blackhawk Technical College. I will be graduating with an Associate's Degree in Agribusiness Science and Technologies. After I graduate I plan to find a job in international commodity grain sales. Being involved in 4-H and FFA, I had always looked forward to what the fair has to offer for the youth.

Road Closed – What Does It Mean?

We all know that Wisconsin has two seasons, Winter and Construction. With the orange barrels, barricades, and signs clearly marking our numerous work zones, do you know which roads you are allowed to drive on?
Our roadway construction crews follow very strict national uniformity guidelines while setting up work zones. They try to keep roadways open as much as possible. Follow the signs and the crews’ directions.
