17th Annual Pedal for Paws Benefit Bike Ride

The 17th annual Pedal for Paws benefit bike ride will take place on Saturday, July 14, 2018. This year’s ride features all new routes and will depart from downtown New Glarus, at the Village Park. There are 13, 20, 33, 45 and 65-mile routes, with varying elevations up to 3,500 feet. Helmets are required for all participants. Check in starts at 7:00 a.m., at the New Glarus Village Park. There are complimentary rest and refreshment stops and SAG service will be provided until 2:00 p.m.

Blues, Brews and Food Truck Festival

On Saturday, July 14, the inaugural Blues, Brews and Food Truck Festival will be held in the New Glarus Village Park from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
According to the festival’s Facebook page, there will be music with four bands featured on stage and music by Dan Phelps between acts.
The first band scheduled is Bird Dog Blues Band at Noon. At 2:00 p.m. will be Ivy Ford Band, followed by Joyann Parker at 4:00 p.m., and wrapping up with Mike Wheeler Band at 6:00 p.m.

Kubly Family Hosting BMAP Summer Potluck Excursion

Join the Blue Mounds Area Project for a tour of a 182-acre property featuring a trout stream, prairie remnants, oak woodlands and more on Thursday, July 19, 2018. The hosts are Kris and Penny Kubly, 1801 2nd Street, New Glarus.
The tour starts at 6:30 p.m., and is followed by a potluck dinner. Free and open to the public. BMAP will be supplying the brats, beer and fixings, you bring a dish to pass.
August’s tour will take place in rural Argyle. More info at www.bluemounds.org.

Welcome Back to 2018-2019 School Year!

The New Glarus School District will again be utilizing an Online Registration process for the 2018-2019 school year. Online Registration will be open from Monday, July 23, 2018, through Wednesday, August 1, 2018, in Family Access.

If you are unable to register online, please attend registration at school on the date listed below. Computers will be available so you can complete the online registration process. When: Monday, July 30, 2018, from 3:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m., in the High School Commons

New Glarus Farmers Market

The New Glarus Farmers Market takes place each Friday, from 3:00 p.m.-6:30 p.m., in the parking lot of the New Glarus Hometown Pharmacy, 1101 State Road 69. The market features several vendors offering items including fresh local produce, meat, plants, flowers, farm products and crafts, and will run through October 12th.

Monticello PTO Hosted Third Annual Pony Trot

The Monticello PTO hosted their 3rd Annual Monticello PTO Pony Trot on Saturday, July 7. It was a beautiful morning, with 22 enthusiastic runners in the 1K run and 70 runners and walkers in the 5K run/walk. The top overall runner, Adam Nelson, set a new course record with a time of 18 minutes and 49 seconds.

World War I Display at Homecoming

The Monticello Community Club, with assistance from Kim Tschudy, the Wisconsin State Historical Society, the Monticello Area Historical Society, and memorabilia from local collectors, presented a WWI display in the lobby of the former Monticello Ford building at 120 W. North Avenue.

Goethe's Groove Connection to Perform in Monticello

Goethe’s Groove Connection, a Big Band from Goethe High School in Emmendingen, Germany, will be performing at the Monticello School, in the field behind the school, on Monday, July 16, 2018, at 6:30 p.m. In case of rain, the concert will be held in the Rehmstedt Gym.
Please bring your own chairs. Let’s fill the field and show this group a true Wisconsin welcome!

Belleville Veterans Memorial Park Deadline Approaching Fast

The concrete has been poured and the flag poles just need to be set in holes prepared. Once electricity is buried for the flag pole, then landscape can begin. Please go to Village Hall, the Senior Center or the Library to view the names of Veterans that have been submitted as of July 3rd to be engraved on monuments. If you know of any mistakes in spelling or reporting, please make note of so corrections can be done.  If you wish to not have your name listed please let us know that also.
