Looking for a Good Book (Or Two?)

Ever wish you had a good book that you could hang onto, one you could pick up in spare moments, one you did not have to return to the library? Do we have a deal for you. The Friends of the New Glarus library are having a book sale the day before Labor Day. This is your chance to get that book you can keep in a bag or the back seat of the car for those times you have to wait (doctor’s office, etc.) and don’t have to worry about when you finish it. How about some children’s books? Wouldn’t it be great to have a few to carry in the car when the kidlets get restless?

New Glarus Blood Drive Exceeds Goal

Dear New Glarus and Area Residents,
Thank you for stepping up to make our Friday, August 3rd Blood Drive a great success.
The Charge Nurse was delighted with the fact that we had the lowest deferral rate ever! Only three were deferred this time for a later day instead of our normal 8 to 12! This was awesome news for me to hear. Thank you all for hydrating and eating well in preparation for donating.

Resident Wonders if There is an Alternative to Chip Sealing

Dear Editor,
Maybe I don’t understand the process, but the chip sealing being done seems to never really solve any issues but makes one hell of a mess. The grit being flung around is terrible for a car’s wheel bearings, rotors and brake shoes, and the loose gravel bits chip up paint jobs! I’ve never seen this process being done anywhere except around here....do other states have better and longer lasting solutions??? There must be a better alternative!
Mick McClain,

Public Deserves to Know What's Happening Behind the Scenes with the New Glarus Public Library Issue

Dear Editor,
The time has come to shed light on the misleading and dubious tactics repeatedly employed by the New Glarus library board, in its quest for a new library facility. The public deserves to know what has gone on behind the scenes, before millions in current and future taxpayer money is put on the line. What follows are a few examples, to highlight our concerns:
* A traffic flow map, supporting the Highway 39 location as business friendly, presented to the village board by the library board, for which no supporting data was available.
