Seconds Produces a First

Half-mile into the boys junior varsity race and the look on Dane Duerst's face tells us everything we need to know about today. It will be tough. He's in second place, a Boscobel boy leads and three run in Dane's shadow. Our large JV team races ahead of most of the eighteen teams but not fast enough to give Dane any relief. Three miles later we see three Boscobels finishing first, second and third, Dane (20:19) holding fourth and our Ben Lukszys, Simon Blohowiak, Beckett Malaise, Braylon Hoesly, Logan Blum and Griffin Ness all finishing before their fifth man.

Wildcat Cross Country News

On Saturday our CC team ran in our biggest race of the season in Janesville. It was tough for some of our inexperienced runners to be in such a big crowd (most races had 300+ athletes). But they pushed hard and had incredible results.
Six boys were under 20 minutes, which is rare for us! Many personal bests occurred today. Our top runner for the boys team was Jordan Wilder, with a season best finish of 18:46, and Tayler Yapp was our top girl, finishing in 20:56. Proud of our kids! Way to go Wildcats!
Next Saturday we'll be running in Platteville!

Wine Walk to Benefit Chalet of the Golden Fleece

Thursday, October 11th, is the date for Mr. Barlow’s Wine Walk. This fundraising event is sponsored by the Friends of the Chalet in partnership with New Glarus Vision. NGHS Student Featured in ^2018 Jerry Awards^" Broadcast"

Annie Pollyea, of New Glarus High School, will appear as a featured performer in a televised broadcast of the <i>2018 Jerry Awards</i>, honoring the top high school musical theater performances from around Wisconsin.
The stars of the future shine in Wisconsin Public Television’s (WPT) broadcast of the <i>2018 Jerry Awards</i>. The one-hour program premieres 8:00 p.m., Monday, October 1st, on WPT; it will also be available to stream online at www.wpt.org.

Observant Officer Discovers House Fire

New Glarus Fire Department and New Glarus Area EMS, along with several area fire departments, responded to a call on Fifth Street that had been reported by a New Glarus police officer.

Swiss Church Hosting Annual Kilby Supper

Swiss Church will be hosting their annual 2018 Kilby Supper on Saturday, September 29th. Food will be served from 4:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Dining will be at Swiss Church in Fellowship Hall. Carry outs will also be available. Additionally, delivery service is available for those unable to drive downtown to pick up your meals. Please contact the church office at (608) 527-2119 before Noon on Friday, September 28th, if you would like to make your reservation for a delivery.

Glarner Park Site No Longer Considered for New Library

On September 18, 2018, the New Glarus Village Board met for their regular meeting in the Community Room of Village Hall.
During the Public Comment section of the meeting Linda Hiland spoke on behalf of the Library Board, saying that they were requesting that the Village Board remove Glarner Park from consideration as a site for the proposed library.

New Look for Mosher &amp; Associates Building

On Wednesday, September 19, 2018, Mosher &amp; Associates held a Customer Appreciation day and celebrated the updated facade of their building on 1st Street.
The classic colors, as well as updated landscaping, make the building stand out.

Downtown Area Road Closures during New Glarus Oktoberfest

The New Glarus Oktoberfest will draw visitors to downtown New Glarus from Thursday, September 27th through Sunday, September 30th, for music, food, a 5K/10K Run and 2-Mile Walk, antique tractor pull, tapping of the Wooden Keg, and much more!
Please make note of the following road closures prior to traveling around downtown New Glarus during Oktoberfest weekend:
1st Street (between 5th Avenue and 6th Avenue) will be closed starting at 12:00 a.m. Thursday, September 27th through 12:00 p.m. on Monday, October 1st.
