Everyone six months and older should receive the flu shot. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that people get vaccinated by the end of October, if possible. The flu vaccination can reduce flu illnesses, doctors’ visits, missed work, and missed school due to the flu. Plus it helps prevent flu-related hospitalizations. Monroe Clinic offers flu clinics starting October 3rd and ending in December.

Last weekend, Monticello 5th grader Taylor Johnson achieved her goal of taking first place in the National Pedal Pull competition at the Corn Palace in Mitchell, SD. Taylor is the daughter of Joe and Denise Johnson, Monticello.

College and Career Readiness is a district wide goal at New Glarus School District. The entire freshmen class, the class of 2022, are enrolled in a Dual Credit Course through Madison College called College and Career Readiness. This course focuses on a positive transition from Middle School to High School, how to be a productive High School student and how to succeed in life after high school.

The Driftless Area Land Conservancy and Let’s Play Outside Productions, in association with 16th Street Theater, wish to announce the performance of a new, outdoor play, “House Hunters: Erickson Edition.” The play will be performed at the Erickson Conservation Area in Argyle on Saturday, October 6th, with two performances at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. In case of inclement weather, the play will be performed on Sunday, October 7th, again with two performances at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. The play is free of charge, but reservations are required.
