4-H Foundation Unveils 4-H License Plate

The brand new Wisconsin 4-H license plate is now available for your car, truck or motor home. This specialty plate is now available through the Wisconsin Department of Motor Vehicles and bears the message “4-H Empowering Youth”. The sale of each license plate will include a monetary contribution to the Wisconsin 4-H Foundation.

Green County 4-H held its annual Awards & Recognition Ceremony on Saturday, November 10, 2018, where numerous youth and adults of the 4-H program were recognized and thanked for their efforts in promoting and supporting positive youth development.

Belleville Girls Open Season With Two Wins

The Belleville girls basketball team opened the season up on November 13th with a 60-44 home win vs the Albany Comets. Coach Greenleaf was overall satisfied with his team’s performance.
“We have a lot of new faces on the roster this season that were playing in their first varsity game. It’s good to get that one out of the way and start to move forward in the season,” Greenleaf said. “Albany is a good team with some really nice players. We couldn’t ever really pull away to a comfortable lead so it was good to see how the new players would respond to that”.

Knights Lose Season Opener to Darlington

On Friday, November 16th, the New Glarus girls basketball team hosted Darlington. Coach Kim Burton called the visitors “very talented” and commented that the girls came out and played an up tempo game and were aggressive on both ends of the floor.
Senior Morgan Hustad closed the gap to two points at halftime in the closing minutes of the first half, New Glarus 28, Darlington 30.

Sugar River Special Olympics

The Sugar River Special Olympics bowling team has been busy. This summer, Krista Hinckley was chosen to be a member of the Wisconsin USA Games bowling team, attending the USA Games in Seattle, Washington, during the month of July. Krista was one of more than 4,000 athletes who participated in a variety of athletic events. Krista competed in the following bowling events: singles, doubles and team. She was awarded a silver medal in her doubles event, a bronze medal for her singles event and placed 4th with her team bowling event.

Monticello Foundation Awards Scholarships

The Monticello Foundation, Inc. recently awarded 18 scholarships in the amount of $2,000 each to the following Monticello High School graduates: Alex Henning, Emma Fenner, Ashley Risley, Kallista Baebler, Brittany Disch, Jordan Garrison, Emily Koch, Mackenzie Zanow, Courtney Leuzinger, Alyssah Kubly, Madalyn Holtz, Christian Wahl, Samantha DeVoe, Lauren Schilder, Emilie Gietzel, Megan Lehr, Kathleen Gierhart and Jessie Garrison. Since 1995, The Monticello Foundation has awarded $381,750 in scholarships to Monticello High School graduates.
