School District of Belleville Upgrades Building Safety

The School District of Belleville is pleased to announce that as part of the DOJ (Department of Justice) Safety Grant award awarded earlier this year, the district has been able to implement the Raptor Visitor Management System in all of our schools beginning November 27, 2018.
The Raptor Visitor Management System will strengthen our program of school safety for students and staff. Part of keeping students and staff safe is knowing who is in the buildings at all times, and the Raptor system will allow the district to do just that.

Belleville Community Giving Tree

It’s that time of year! The Giving Tree Program that provides gifts to children who are in need in the Belleville area, is beginning soon.
The gift tags are available at the following Belleville locations: Belleville Chiropractic and Wellness Center, Belleville Hometown Pharmacy, First United Church of Christ, Grace United Methodist Church, Monona Bank, Sugar River Bank, and Union Bank and Trust.
<strong>The gifts are to be returned to the same location by Monday, December 3rd. </strong> Cash donations are also accepted at each location.

Dear Editor,
First I would like to express my disappointment regarding the cashier at a local grocery store the other day. You see I was buying a box of shredded wheat cereal and she did not even bother to check my ID! I let her know that the person in the WH says that we need to show ID to buy a box of cereal...so why was she not asking for my ID?! I mean what is this country coming to?! People just running around buying cereal willy nilly with no proper identification! How appalling.

Elmer Celebrates 90th Birthday

Dear Editor,
Lucille (Lucy) Elmer’s daughters were in town and hosted Zwingli social hour in Lucy’s honor for her 90th birthday. Lucy has a secret to staying young and active. She begins her day having coffee and playing cards with friends. After that, she volunteers working at the canteen every Red Cross Blood Drive, serves as a docent at the Monticello Historical Society and delivering “Meals on Wheels” to shut-ins.
We thank Lucy for all she does for our community.
