Sugar River Euchre

With last week’s scheduled shootout between the 5 and 0 Norsk Cowboys and the 5 and 0 Kleeman Hay Shakers, it was a forgone conclusion that there would be but one team occupying first place after the results were recorded. The question was, which team would be top dog? Halfway through the match it was looking like the Hay Shakers could take that honor as they were up by 1. By the end of the seventh round, it was looking even better after adding another 4 points to their lead.

Kaetterhenry Receives Volunteer Award from Girl Scouts of America - Badgerland Council

Girl Scouts of Wisconsin – Badgerland Council recognized a Belleville volunteer at its Annual Meeting this fall for her leadership and mentorship for young women in the area.
For the first time in 2018, Badgerland is honoring volunteers with GIRL awards to celebrate volunteers who embody the Girl Scout mission through their work as role models to girls. GIRL stands for Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-Taker and Leader, and this year four volunteers were honored to represent each of those traits. The GIRL awards will be an annual presentation moving forward.

New Glarus Academic Bowl Team Takes 3rd Place in Conference Competition

Congratulations to the Academic Bowl Team! The team took third place in conference on Monday night. Merrick Fong placed first in the individual English competition for the second year in a row. Ben Copeland placed first in the individual Geography competition. Lukas Thelen placed first in the individual Biology competition, and Jeremy Kolasa placed first in the individual Physical Sciences completion.

New Glarus High School Mathletes

On Wednesday, 27 New Glarus High School mathletes participated in the 46th annual UW-Platteville Mathematics Meet. The Blue team for New Glarus took first place in division 3 for the third year in a row! Fourteen teams competed in division 3 and there were over 800 competitors in all. Individual winners were Emily Streiff, Ellawyn Fong, Adam Nelson, Ben Wolf, Ben Copeland, and Merrick Fong. Congratulations to all the participants!

Village of New Glarus Nomination Procedure For Running For Village Offices

Candidates for local office in the Village of New Glarus can begin circulating Nomination Papers on December 1, 2018. The Spring Election will have the Village President and three Trustee positions up for election. Incumbents whose terms end in 2019 are: Village President Roger Truttmann, and Trustees Peggy Kruse, Barb Anderson, and Anthony Edge.
