NGM Football Awards

Recently, the New Glarus-Monticello Football Team celebrated the 2018 season. The 2018 team finished with an overall record of 5-6/2-2 in the Capitol Conference, and earned a #7 seed in the WIAA play-offs. NGM defeated the #2 Prairie Du Chien Blackhawks to advance to Level II of the WIAA play-offs. NGM was eventually defeated by Horicon/Hustisford. During the banquet, the 2018 NGM seniors were recognized for their contributions to NGM Football.

Monroe Clinic Volunteer Services Hosting Annual Christmas Festival

Join Monroe Clinic Volunteer Services at their annual Christmas Festival on Friday, December 7. The event will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at Monroe Clinic Founders Hall, clinic building’s lower level, 515 22nd Avenue, Monroe. The Christmas Festival is a fundraiser for the Monroe Clinic Volunteer Services scholarship program.
This year, Monroe Clinic Volunteer Services has created many beautiful gift baskets that are wonderful for Christmas gift-giving.

Canton Glarus Family History Now Online

In the following paragraphs you will read how collaboration has made a number of resources available for those investigating their Swiss Glarner families. The Green County Genealogical Society Research Center, located in the lower level of the Monroe Public Library, has Bob Elmer’s newsletters, a number of family histories, a surname file, and information on Swiss research. If you don’t have Glarner ancestors, don’t worry. The Research Center also has many resources for families from Green County and surrounding counties, Germany, and other states and countries.

The New Glarus Youth Committee invites you to Lunch With Santa on Saturday, December 8, 2018, from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., at the New Glarus Elementary School. Please enter at the rear or outside door to cafeteria.
Enjoy lunch, a Home Depot children’s workshop, crafts, a photo with Santa courtesy of Eichelkraut Photography, and a goody bag, all for $5.00 per person.

Progress on Library Project

The Village Board Ad Hoc Committee (Roger Truttmann, Petra Streiff, Peggy Kruse and Barb Anderson) has been meeting with members of the Library Board (Linda Hiland, Suzi Janowiak and Shelly Truttmann) to discuss the needs for the library facility.
The Ad Hoc Committee concurs with the Library Board that a 12,000 sq. ft. concept design is an appropriate starting point. The committee will offer a recommendation on a location that best fits the needs at a later date.

Santa is Coming to Monticello

Santa Claus is coming to town! Santa will make his annual pre-Christmas visit to Monticello on Saturday, December 8, 2018, at the Monticello Fire Station from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Treats will be served and the fire department will be collecting food, new toys, new mittens and gloves for the Monticello Empty Stocking. When they’re done visiting with Santa and giving him their lists, the kids can ride a fire truck to Santa’s Workshop at Zwingli Church to shop for family members and then ride back to the fire station to meet back up with their parents.

Holiday Luncheon

The Monticello School District is hosting its Annual Holiday Luncheon on Wednesday, December 19th. All parents, grandparents and community members are encouraged to attend.
Menu consists of Carved Turkey, Mashed Potatoes and Gravy, Stuffing, Glazed Carrots, Cranberry Sauce, Rolls, Butter, Dessert, Milk and Coffee.
Reservations are requested and should be made by December 12th. Cost for adults is $7.00 in advance and $8.00 at the door, and children under 5 are $4.00. Tickets may be purchased at the school office. Serving times are 11:00 a.m.-Noon and Noon-1:00 p.m.
