Dance Wisconsin Celebrates Forty-Two Years of The Nutcracker and Still Crackin'

This is a special year for Dance Wisconsin; JoJean Retrum is celebrating 42 years of her classic version of the original Nutcracker in Shannon Hall at the Wisconsin Union Theater. Performances will take place Saturday, December 15, at 2:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, December 16, at 2:00 p.m. at the Wisconsin Union Theater.
The Tchaikovsky score will be performed by the Dance Wisconsin orchestra and conducted by Taras Nahirniak. The Monona Grove High School singers will accompany several pieces.

Feel Good About Giving Back by Donating Blood at the New Glarus Holiday Blood Drive

Many people want to give back to the community but may not have a lot of time to volunteer. In only about an hour, volunteer blood donors can help save lives and feel instant gratification.
The community is invited to give back and help save lives by donating blood on Friday, December 28th, from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at the New Glarus Bible Church, 207 6th Street, New Glarus.

New Glarus Area EMS Seeking Community Advisory Board Members

Want to get involved in your community? The New Glarus Area Emergency Medical Services (EMS) is seeking interested parties to sit on the EMS Executive Board as Community Advisory Board members.
Applicants must reside within the area that the EMS services. Those municipalities are the Village of New Glarus and Town of New Glarus and portions of the Town of Primrose, Town of York, Town of Mount Pleasant, Town of Perry and Town of Exeter.

SkillsUSA Team Competes at District Event

The SkillsUSA team of New Glarus High School, led by teacher Mr. Mihm, competed at a District event at Portage High School on Monday, December 3, 2018. Sixteen students competed in events such as Technical Related Math, CO2 Cars, Technical Drafting, and Team Engineering Problem Solving.
Two of our engineering teams placed in the top four! A special congratulations to Levi Douty, Dee Delforge and Garrett James for taking FIRST place in a heavily contested field of 28! Way to go New Glarus SkillsUSA!

Monticello Lions Club Presents Check to Green Cares Food Pantry

The Monticello Lions/Lioness Club recently presented a donation to Green Cares Food Pantry. This was the proceeds from a raffle held at the Lions/Lioness annual meeting and Christmas Party held on December 2nd. Also, 161 lbs of food was collected.

Village Of Monticello Flag Lowering Policies Questioned

Monticello Village Hall received a flurry of phone calls last Wednesday, December 5th, after a Facebook post from Tim Kolasch, a village resident and veteran.
Kolasch posted to Facebook after noticing that the flags in the village had not been lowered as a show of respect for former President George H.W. Bush, who passed away on November 30, 2018. A Presidential Proclamation was ordered by President Donald Trump on December 1, 2018. That was followed by a Proclamation by Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker. Wednesday, December 5, 2018, was declared a National Day of Mourning.

Kids Loved the Polar Express Party at Belleville Library

Children celebrated the season at Belleville Public Library's Polar Express Party. After listening to <i>The Polar Express</i> by Chris Van Allsburg, the kids made holiday crafts and had hot cocoa and snacks.
