Boudin Dinner - A French Tradition

Join in a French tradition on Sunday, March 3rd, at J&M Bar in Belleville for a Boudin Dinner from 1:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m.
What is Boudin? Boudin is one of most unique, tasty and distinctly uncorrupted regional specialties in America. Basically, Boudin is a combination of cabbage, onions, cracklins, milk, flour, pork blood, salt, pepper and summer savory, or senti bon, which means “smells good” in colloquial French. Each recipe is slightly different. The mixture is pulverized to some degree in a meat grinder before being stuffed into a sausage casing.

Donation Presented to Belleville Food Pantry

A donation of $620 was recently presented to the Belleville Food Pantry. This contribution was made possible through a locally designated allocation resulting from the Belleville Area CROP Hunger Walk that took place last fall. The check was presented to Brian Wilson, Belleville Village Administrator/Clerk/Treasurer, by Kathy Marty, Belleville Area CROP Hunger Walk Coordinator.

Teachers Complete WCA Certification

Wisconsin added 10 more Woodwork Career Alliance (WCA) Evaluators to their ranks recently. They completed their training at Madison College.
These teachers are now certified to award WCA Credentials to their students. With over 50 evaluators, Wisconsin has the largest number of WCA Accredited Skill Evaluators in the country. Spurred on by funding from the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development, high schools in the state can receive up to $1,000 per student for each credential awarded.

Paul John Hodel, age 81 of Belleville, passed away on Wednesday, February 20, 2019, at his home. He was born on October 17, 1937 in Belleville, the son of Herman and Elsbeth (Hefty) Hodel.

Rebecca R. Flegal, 31 of Watertown, went home to be with her Savior on Tuesday, February 19, 2019, at Watertown Hospital. Rebecca was born on December 5, 1987, in Monroe, Wisconsin. She is the daughter of James and Joyce (Currie) Jensen.

Snow Pile Creates Dangerous Situation on Homeowner's Property

Dear Editor,
From 1968 until 2000, I lived at 57 Co. Hwy U, Belleville. All those years, the Dane County Highway Dept. trucks turned around in the mouth of our driveway. They did much damage – they got stuck frequently, rutting the ditch and the surface of the driveway. They once drove over and broke a gate post. Another time, they backed over and downed both gate posts and the gate enclosing the driveway where livestock was being pastured. Additionally, they dumped huge amounts of salt and gravel over time.

Is Vacant Building in Monticello Fit for Community Center?

To all Monticello and Green County area residents,
We have a chance to purchase a building in Monticello. The former quilting store, on the corner of Main Street and North Street.
So this notice is to see if people are interested in having a community center. This would be home to the Monticello Legion, which is 100 years old this year, and to a much needed senior center and other community organizations.

Our <i>Post Messenger Recorder </i>arrived today – the January 31st edition – considering we currently reside in Rogers, Arkansas, we feel fortunate to receive the PMR so quickly (this letter was dated February 4th).
I found the letter from Kriss Marion very interesting about drinking water.

Free Screening of ^No Small Matter^" for Community Members"

Letter to the Editor,
The lack of high-quality child care is creating a loss of $3 billion annually in Wisconsin. Because our non-profit group of child care professionals understands how critical the shortage is, we are sponsoring a screening and discussion of <i>No Small Matter</i> for all community members on Wednesday, March 13, 2019, from 6:30 p.m.-8:45 p.m., at the Monroe Public Library. Following the screening there will be a discussion period of the film.
