Community Came Together for New Library and Community Center

Dear Editor,
The Village of Belleville is going to have a new Library and Community Center next Spring. On Monday, February 18th, the Belleville Village Board approved a $3.3 million contract with National Construction, Inc. of Madison for a 13,805 square foot facility on the corner of East Main and South Park in downtown Belleville. This action is the culmination of over three years of hard work. Early in the project, the Village Board challenged the Belleville community to raise $1 million for the project. And we did it!

Lady Wildcats Take Regional Championship

On February 22nd, the Belleville Lady Wildcats hosted #7 Pardeeville for a WIAA Regional game. The Lady Wildcats were ahead by 14 at halftime and kept the momentum going in the second half to win the game. The final score was Belleville 84, Pardeeville 58.
Rachael Heittola scored 18 points to lead the Cats, while Ava Foley put 15 points on the board and Jade Halvensleben scored 13 points.

Boy Scout Troop 61 and Kiwanis Club of Belleville Hold Chili and Taco Bar Dinner

As the snow continued to fall on Sunday, many attended the Boy Scout Troop 61 and Kiwanis Club of Belleville's Chili and Taco Bar Dinner.
Complete with all of the chili and taco bar fixings, a selection of beverages and a variety of delicious desserts, no one left hungry.

As this article is composed, two teams have yet to make up their match from February 7th. However, by the time you see this, the results between the Norsk Pranksters and the Riley Shufflers will be in the record books. Those results will be printed in next week’s paper with the results from February 21.

Wildcats Score Wins Over Marshall and Albany

On February 15th, the Belleville Wildcats hosted Marshall. The Wildcats were ahead by 4 at the half and the teams each scored 27 points during the second half, giving Belleville the win. The final score was Belleville 57, Marshall 53.
Royce Clark scored 15 points and had 10 rebounds, while Austin Fahey scored 15 points and had 11 rebounds and 2 assists and Jacob Shrader scored 8 points and had 4 rebounds.

Lady Knights Victorious Over Palmyra-Eagle

On February 11th, the Lady Knights played at Palmyra-Eagle. Ahead by 21 at the half, New Glarus outscored the home team during the second half and won the game. The final score was New Glarus 59, Palmyra-Eagle 28.
Pouring in 21 points for New Glarus was Lexi Krause, while Jaylynn Benson scored 11 points and Morgan Hustad put 10 points on the board.

Monticello Boys Win Two, Lose One

The Monticello Ponies boys basketball team hosted Benton on February 11th. The Ponies led by 7 at the half and their hard work in the second half led to a win over the visiting team. The final score was Monticello 66, Benton 58.
It was a close game throughout, with Benton taking the lead by 1 point three times during the first half. Monticello took the lead for good during the first half with 4:31 left on a basket by Jeffrey Ace and stretched the lead to 7 by halftime. During the second half, Monticello held Benton back, as they weren’t able to get any closer than 7 points.

Ponies Have Winning Week

The Monticello Ponies girls basketball team had a very busy week, coming away with three wins and one loss.
On February 11th, they hosted Benton. After leading 36-29 at the half, Monticello went on to win it. The final score was Monticello 67, Benton 46.
