New Glarus Bike Rodeo

For eight years, the New Glarus Police Department and New Glarus Chamber have hosted a bike rodeo in early May. A rodeo is a bicycle skills event which provides an opportunity for young bicyclists to practice and develop skills that will help them to become better bicyclists and avoid typical crashes.
This year's bike rodeo will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2019, from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m., at the Depot on Railroad Street.

Local Police Participate in Wisconsin Drug Take-Back Day

Belleville and New Glarus Police were the first to drop off their collected drugs for the State of Wisconsin's Drug Take-Back Day Program. This program provides Safe, Convenient and Responsible means for disposing of unused or unneeded prescription medications. Belleville had 60 pounds of medication and New Glarus had 50 pounds. Both departments have the drop off boxes available for the public through-out the year in their respective villages.

4-H Youth Participate in Foods Fair

Green County 4-H Cloverbuds (youth in grades Kindergarten through 2nd grade) participated in the annual Foods Fair event on Saturday, April 13th, at the Green County Justice Center. Youth were able to enter up to two items to be judged at the event. Entries included decorated cookies, decorated cupcakes, decorated cake, creative table place setting, nutritious snack, decorated apron, edible kids art, or an educational display.

Green County Drug Court Receives Grant

Robert Gibson, the Green County Alcohol and Drug Supervisor, and Drug Court Judge James R. Beer have announced that the Green County Drug Court has received a grant from the Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration. The award for the “Grants to Expand Substance Abuse Treatment Capacity in Adult Treatment Drug Courts and Adult Tribal Healing to Wellness Courts” (TI-19-002) was for $400,000 for year for five years, for a total of $2,000,000.

There’s no agenda or speeches, just an opportunity to ask questions, voice concerns and get to know law enforcement in your area. Kids are welcome to join the conversation.

Knights Lose to Heights

The New Glarus Knights baseball team played at Wisconsin Heights on April 25th, losing 2-11. Holden Latsch was 2x4 at bat with 1 run scored while Nathan Streiff was 1x1 at bat with 1 run scored and Cooper Dreyfus was 1x2 at bat with 1 RBI. Ben Melvin pitched for 3.2 innings, striking out 4, Carter Siegenthaler pitched 1.1 innings and struck out 3 and Eli Zimmerman pitched for 1 inning.
The Knights played at Adams-Friendship on April 26th, losing 4-13. No further information was available at press time.
