175th Anniversary of the Founding of New Glarus

New Glarus will celebrate its 175th anniversary in 2020, and the Village of New Glarus, Swiss Center of North America, and New Glarus Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a public meeting on Wednesday, June 12th, at 7:00 p.m., in the Village Hall Community Room to gather ideas from the public on how best to celebrate. Whether you have Swiss heritage, are a long-time resident, or are new to the area, all are welcome to attend and share your suggestions.

Cops N' Bobbers

The Belleville Police Department and Wisconsin DNR invite you to join them for their Cops N’ Bobbers event on Saturday, June 1, 2019, from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m., at the Belleville Community Park, Shelter 1, 10 Bross Circle.
Children ages pre-K4 grade through 8th grade can participate in Fishing with a Buddy, and children 4th grade and younger can participate in the Fish Pond. Prizes will be awarded for Biggest Fish and Smallest Fish. Lunch will be provided by UW Health Belleville Family Medicine.

New Program at Belleville Public Library

Book Chat is a new program for people who love to talk about books. Share what you’ve read recently—fiction or non-fiction—and hear about what everyone else is reading.
The first meeting will be on Thursday, June 6th, at 6:30 p.m., at the Library. Be prepared to give a brief description and your opinion about one or two books you’ve listened to or read. Treats will be provided.

Olbrich Botanical Gardens Tour

Stroll through 16 acres of outdoor display gardens and an indoor, tropical conservatory at Olbrich Botanical Gardens. In the outdoor gardens, visit the Thai Pavilion and Garden. Olbrich’s Thai Pavilion is the only one in the continental United States, and the only one outside of Thailand surrounded by a garden. Also stroll through the rose garden and other specialty gardens, such as the Perennial Garden, Sunken Garden, and Herb Garden.

Village of New Glarus Spring Clean Up Day

Spring Clean Up Day will be held on Monday, June 3, 2019.
Accepted items include furniture, household trash, dry carpet (rolled and tied for one person to handle), swing sets (dismantled), bagged box springs and mattresses, bed frames, gas grills (no tanks), charcoal grills, small lawn mowers or snowblowers (gas and oil must be removed).
