New Glarus Lions Club Chicken Barbecue Held at Fest Haus

On Friday, May 24, weather forecasters were calling for rain late in the afternoon and evening.
This could have been a problem for the New Glarus Lions Club Chicken Barbecue.
Randy and Sherry Dreger, owners of Fest Haus, stepped up and offered to host the event.
As it turned out, the rain stayed away but the crowds enjoyed the venue and of course the chicken!

<strong>Matchett Named to President’s List at Western Technical College</strong>
<strong>Ian Matchett</strong>, Associate of Science - Business Management program student from New Glarus, was named to Western Technical College’s President’s List of High Distinction for the Spring 2019 term. To be included on the President’s List, students must achieve a grade point average of 3.5 or higher and carry 12 or more credits in an associate’s degree or technical diploma program.

Monticello High School Class of 2019

On Saturday, May 25, 2019, at 1:00 p.m., the graduation ceremony for the Monticello High School Class of 2019 will be held in the Rehmstedt Gym.
The seniors and their families have had a busy week leading up to graduation. Baccalaureate was held at Washington Reformation Church. The Senior Banquet was held on Wednesday, May 22.
Thursday was the official last day for Seniors with graduation rehearsal in the morning and a class picnic afterwards. And, of course, Saturday is graduation.

Top Academic Students Honored

On Monday night, May 13, the Capitol Conference recognized its member schools' top academic students at a banquet at the Sheraton Madison Hotel. For Belleville High School, this honor is determined by class rank after the first semester of the senior year. These students had the highest cumulative grade point averages through their first seven semesters at BHS. It was a terrific night to celebrate all that these students have accomplished, with their classmates and parents in attendance!

Mailbox Improvement Week Arrives in Time for Spring Cleaning

The U.S. Postal Service is asking all Belleville and New Glarus homeowners to inspect and repair their mailboxes during Mailbox Improvement Week, May 19–25, say Postmasters Julie Williams and Ann Marty.
“Repairing suburban and rural mailboxes improves the appearance of our community and makes delivering and receiving mail safer for our carriers and customers,” says Marty.
The Postal Service makes this annual request because of the wear and tear that occurs to mailboxes every year.
“This is especially important after the effects of last winter,” adds Williams.

ADRC Offers Low Cost Transportation to Monroe Farmers Market

The Monroe Farmers Market is open for the 2019 season, downtown on the square. The market will operate from 12:00 p.m.-4:30 p.m. on Wednesdays and from 8:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. on Saturdays. SNAP customers are welcome at the market.
The market will have a variety of produce, fresh, home-canned and dried, Master-Grilled Cheese Sandwiches, homemade and one-of-a-kind crafts, jellies, pickles, preserves, a large variety of baked goods, and local meats, honey, maple syrup and eggs.
