The University of Wisconsin-Madison Announces New UW Connects Program

UW-Madison has launched a new program that brings the campus to communities around the state. The new UW Connects Programs, rooted in the Wisconsin Idea, offers three outreach programs under one umbrella – Badger Talks (https://badgertalks.wisc.edu/), Bucky’s Classroom (https://uwconnects.wisc.edu/buckys-classroom/), and Badger Ambassadors (https://uwconnects.wisc.edu/badger-ambassadors/).

Argyle Community Organization 80th Annual Fish Fry Supper

The 80th Annual Argyle Fish Fry will take place on Saturday, June 29, 2019, serving from 3:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m., in front of the Argyle-Adams Firehouse on Broad Street (look for the big tent!).
The menu includes Deep-Fried Fish, French Fries, Coleslaw and all the trimmings. Enjoy the Greg Anderson Band while you eat and there will be a dairy promotion area serving cheeses from Lafayette and Green County cheese factories. The Fish Fry will be held rain or shine.

Annual Presentation of Johanna Spyri's ^Heidi^"

Since 1965, actors from New Glarus and the surrounding communities have presented Johanna Spyri's classic children's drama, <i>Heidi</i>, for thousands of people over the years. The beloved story of the orphan child Heidi and her gruff (but good-hearted) Alm Uncle will play out on the stage in the air-conditioned New Glarus High School Auditorium, located at 1701 2nd Street, during Heidi Fest Weekend. Shows are at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 28th; 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 29th; and 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 30th.

Singer/Songwriter Showcase Judging at Tofflers Pub & Grill

On Sunday, June 30, 2019, the finalists for the Singer/ Songwriter contest will perform at Tofflers Pub & Grill beginning at 2:00 p.m.
The winner will receive cash prizes and will perform at the Green County Fair, first in the Hospitality tent on Saturday, July 20, at 4:00 p.m..
The winner will also open for Chris Kroeze on Saturday, July 20, at 7:30 p.m.

Blues, Brews and Food Truck Festival

On Saturday, June 29th, the 2nd Annual Blues, Brews and Food Truck Festival will be held in the New Glarus Village Park from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Music begins with the Madtown Mannish Boys at Noon, followed by The Jimmys at 2:00 p.m. Doug Deming &amp; The Jewel Tones will play at 4:00 p.m., and Bryan Lee The Braille Blues Daddy is featured at 6:00 p.m. Wheatbread Johnson will be performing between acts.
Following the festival, there will be an after-fest jam at Tofflers Pub &amp; Grill, 200 5th Avenue, New Glarus.

Donate Blood on June 28 at the Monticello Community Blood Drive

Many people want to give back to the community but may not have a lot of time to volunteer. In only about an hour, volunteer blood donors can help save lives and feel instant gratification.
The community is invited to give back and help save lives by donating blood on Friday, June 28, 2019, from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., at the Zwingli United Church of Christ, 416 E. Lake Avenue, Monticello.

June Meeting of the Monticello Area Historical Society

The Monticello Area Historical Society (MAHS) will meet at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, June 27, 2019, in the Zwingli UCC Lounge, 416 E. Lake Avenue, Monticello.
Following a short business meeting, Doug Buehl will trace the history of the Woolen Mill, based on his research that is captured in his recent book, A History of the Monticello Woolen Mill.

Washington Church Music Festival To Be Held

Washington Reformation Church will be holding its Music Festival, rain or shine, on Thursday, July 4th, from 11:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Along with music and food, there will be a quilt raffle.
On July 4, 1876, a celebration was held on the new foundation of Washington Church, including music and food. Over the years, this tradition has continued with Washington’s reputation for good music and good food.
This year, music will be provided by The Greenfield Brothers, Hymns & Hers, Country 4 and Greg Anderson. First band plays at Noon.
