Emma Shares Raises Money for Backpack Program

Recently, Belleville High School sophomore Emma Shares ran a Kickstarter campaign and raised $217, which she then donated to the district Backpack Program, a program aimed at helping food insecure students in the district by giving them a backpack full of food to take home for the weekend. Thank you so much Emma for your thoughtfulness! Truly an example of the #WildcatWay.

Serious Accident Sends One to Hospital

On June 5, 2019, Green County Deputies, along with New Glarus Police, New Glarus Area EMS, New Glarus Fire Department and MedFlight, responded to a one-vehicle crash on Legler Valley Road in the Town of New Glarus.
Jessica A. Page, 31, New Glarus, was westbound when she failed to negotiate a curve. The vehicle struck a tree. Page was not wearing her seatbelt and required extrication from the vehicle.

Still Looking for Local Fun This Summer?

Two groups of students from Spain will be in Wisconsin for 28 days this summer. The July group will be here from June 28-July 26, and the August group will be visiting from July 29-August 26 (dates can be flexible). Their arrival and departure will be out of Madison. Each participant comes with all proper legal documents, full medical insurance, their own spending money for all activities, and simply look forward to being a part of your everyday routine, whatever it may be! It is a great experience for kids of all ages.

Olbrich Botanical Gardens Tour

Stroll through 16 acres of outdoor display gardens and an indoor, tropical conservatory at Olbrich Botanical Gardens. In the outdoor gardens, visit the Thai Pavilion and Garden. Olbrich’s Thai Pavilion is the only one in the continental United States, and the only one outside of Thailand surrounded by a garden. Also stroll through the rose garden and other specialty gardens, such as the Perennial Garden, Sunken Garden, and Herb Garden.

The Green County Abuse Prevention Team will be presenting a free program by the Rock County Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force at the Monroe Public Library, 2nd Floor Community Room on Thursday, June 20, 2019, from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.
This is a free, open community discussion on human trafficking. You will learn to know the signs, identify the victims and be the difference.

Wags 'n Wheels Poker Run

Two wheels or four, all are welcome to join the Wags ’n Wheels Poker Run on Saturday, July 6, 2019, to benefit the Green County Humane Society.
Vehicles will depart at 11:00 a.m., from the Junction House north of Monroe, to travel the scenic countryside through Green, Lafayette, Iowa and Dane counties, making five stops along the way to collect playing cards in a quest to create a winning poker hand. Each stop will also include raffles, prizes and other fun.
