Second Annual 4-H Day Camp

The 2nd annual Green County 4-H Day Camp was held at the Green County Fairgrounds on Saturday, August 10th. This event was open to all youth going into 1st-3rd grade this fall, with the theme 'Discover the Treasure of 4-H Day Camp.' There were 25 youth in attendance, with 19 of them being 4-H members and six of them not 4-H members. The purpose of 4-H Day Camp was to promote the Green County 4-H program to youth and families both currently in 4-H and not currently enrolled in 4-H.

Green County 4-H Youth Excel at State Dog Competition

The Green County 4-H program was well represented at the State 4-H Dog Obedience and Showmanship Show held August 9-11, in Janesville. Junior and Senior teams in the Dog Quiz Bowl competitions, as well as two individual members that each participated in the Obedience and Showmanship categories, all placed well and brought home ribbons.

Green County Farm Bureau to Host Annual Meeting

Members of the Green County Farm Bureau will hold their annual meeting on Tuesday, September 10, 2019, at 7:00 p.m., at T&D’s Bar and Grill in Monticello, located at 149 N. Main Street.
All Farm Bureau members are encouraged to attend this important meeting to help create policy resolutions and vote in elections for county board directors. Also being selected will be the county’s voting delegates for the WFBF Annual Meeting in Wisconsin Dells, December 7-9.

WIAA Concussion Insurance Enters Third Year

For the past two years, every high school and junior high school student-athlete in Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association member schools have been covered by concussion insurance.
In the first two years of the coverage, the policy has handled 443 claims that has paid out over $212,000 since its inception in 2017-18.

Inappropriate adult behavior at high school athletic events has reached epidemic proportion.
When more than 2,000 high school athletic directors were asked in a recent national survey what they like least about their job, 62.3 percent said it was “dealing with aggressive parents and adult fans.”

The MNG swim team competed at Platteville/Lancaster on August 22nd. The final score for the varsity team was Monroe-New Glarus 124, Platteville/Lancaster 43.

Wildcats Open Season With a Loss

The Belleville Wildcats opened their season against New Holstein on Friday, August 23rd. Scoreless until the 4th quarter, New Holstein managed to score 26 points to Belleville's 13 in the last 7:25 of the game to win it.
Belleville's first TD of the game was an 84-yard kickoff return by Anthony Nolden. The extra point kicked by Matteo Lattore was good. With 33 seconds left in the game, QB JJ Wenger lobbed a 44-yard pass to Sean Hagen for a touchdown. The extra point was unsuccessful.
