Monticello Volleyball Honors First Responders, Veterans

The Monticello volleyball team hosted a first responder and veteran appreciation night in conjunction with their game against Juda. Both teams recognized the members in attendance by lining up and shaking their hands.

2019 Belleville High School Homecoming Parade Information

The annual Belleville Homecoming parade will be held on Friday, October 11, 2019. Parade line-up will begin at 2:15 p.m., with the parade rolling down Main Street at 2:30 p.m.
Groups interested in having a float or vehicle in the parade need to complete an application form to participate. The application form can be picked up at the Belleville High School Main Office. Completed applications should be returned back to the High School office no later than Monday, September 30th.

Be a Hometown Hero and Donate Blood

Heroes come in all shapes and sizes. They don’t wear capes or special suits, and their badge of honor is the bandage that shows they gave the gift of life.
The community is invited to become a hometown hero and answer the call of patients in need by donating blood on Tuesday, September 24, 2019, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at St. Mary of Lourdes, 221 Frederick Street in Belleville.

Attention All Veterans

I would like to invite all men and women that have served and are serving to the 2019 Veteran’s Day Program. The program will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2019, at 7:00 p.m., in the Belleville High School Gym.
You will be honored by a program meant to honor you. Please come and join us.
There will be a table when coming in the gym for you to fill out a form before taking a seat on the chairs. I would like to know what branch you served in, or are serving in. If you are unable to attend please ask a family member to stand in for you.

If you have lost any of these items, please contact the Belleville Police Department before October 12, 2019, to identify your items and make arrangements to pick them up. All items not claimed by October 12, 2019, will be sold or disposed of properly.

Another Cost of Deregulation

Dear Editor,
The lack of broadband internet service is not the only telecommunication problem in rural Wisconsin. Like many rural homeowners, our house is beyond the range of reliable cell phone service. Thus, our landline phone is our lifeline for reaching emergency help. For people like me who have an implanted pacemaker that is monitored through the phone line by a hospital, my landline is literally a lifeline.

Green County Fall Nationals Pulls for the Community on September 21st

The Green County Fall Nationals Truck and Tractor Pull will pull for the community on September 21st during its 13th annual event. Organizer Mark Hawthorn, of Monticello, founded GCFN as a way to combine his passion of tractor pulling with an opportunity to give back to Green County residents who suffered financial hardship through illness or tragedy. As well, GCFN has provided larger contributions to several Green County organizations and scholarships to graduating students in each of the school districts of the county.

EMMA GRAEBER

Emma Graeber, age 94, passed away on Monday, September 9, 2019, at Agrace Hospice in Fitchburg. She was born on March 6, 1925 in Czechoslovakia, the daughter of Ludwig and Ida (Landner) Schoenecker.
Emma was united in marriage to Helmut G. Graeber on March 25, 1950. Emma, Helmut and their son, Peter, immigrated to the United States in 1956. She was employed at James Electronics, Chicago, Illinois, for many years. After retiring in 1986, Emma and Helmut moved to New Glarus.

DORIS M. ARN

Doris M. Arn, age 80 of New Glarus, passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2019, at Meriter Hospital in Madison. She was born on August 24, 1939 in Gretzenbach, Switzerland, the daughter of Wilhelm and Clare (Graber) Gruetter.

New Glarus Class of 1949 Holds Reunion

The New Glarus Class of 1949 held their 70th class reunion on Saturday, September 14, 2019. Twelve class members were able to attend the reunion, held at the New Glarus Hotel. Seven were unable to attend and 18 class members are deceased.
