Belleville High School Students of the Month

On Thursday, January 13th, Belleville High School staff recognized Students of the Month from January. Each department is able to nominate a student. Students are treated to a pizza lunch and receive movie passes, courtesy of Marcus Theaters. In their personalized certificates, teachers noted that this month's nominees are model students who lead with their actions in the classroom. Congratulations to these Wildcats who have started the new semester out strong!

Dane County Sheriff's Office Launches New App

Dane County Sheriff David Mahoney is excited to announce the release of the organization’s new smartphone application. This app will serve as a new way for the sheriff’s office to connect with Dane County residents and visitors, providing information quickly and efficiently to anyone with a smartphone. He wants to lead in serving the people of Dane County while also providing an example for other sheriff and public safety agencies across the country of the opportunity to reach citizens where they are: on their smartphone.

ADRC Offers Program to Reduce Falls in Older Adults

One in four older adults has a fall each year, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and Wisconsin leads the nation in fall-related deaths for people age 60 and older. But the good news, according to the Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) of Green County, is that falls are not a normal part of aging and can be prevented.

The Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions (DFI) and the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) has announced a $150,000 statewide grant program to encourage Wisconsin’s K-12 school districts to incorporate personal finance education into their curricula.

With love in the air on the eve of Valentine’s Day, Pepé Le Pew decided to take Penelope Pussycat out for a quick drink at Morgan’s in Pine Bluff. Pipe Benders Ross Neshiem and Jeff Ellingson asked Pepé and Penelope over to their table where they were so kind as to introduce them to Mounties Roseann Maier and Devon Handel in the second game. At the very moment the skunk of Roseann and Devon was being recorded, Jerome Krantz and Mark Losenegger called Pepé and Penelope over to their table so they could introduce them to Mounties Jim Day and Harold Grabandt.

Local Master Gardener Symposium to be held March 7th

The Green County Master Gardeners Association (GCMGA) is excited to present their 13th Annual Gardening Symposium. “Garden Inspirations for All Seasons –Birds, Bees and Backyards!” will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2020, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at the Turner Hall, 1217 17th Avenue, Monroe.
Both experienced and novice gardeners are encouraged to attend this public seminar. Participants will receive lunch, refreshments and resource materials with their paid registration.

On Tuesday, February 11th, the Belleville Wildcats hosted the Cambridge Bluejays in a Capital South Conference match up, with Cambridge coming into this match in 2nd place in conference.

Wildcats Victorious at Dodgeville

The Belleville Wildcats boys basketball team played at Dodgeville on February 10th. After holding a 4-point lead at the half, Belleville went on to win the game, 68-58.
Carson Syse scored 22 points to lead the team, while Kody Fahey put 20 points on the board and Trevor Syse scored 7 points.
The Wildcats are tied for third place with Wisconsin Heights in the Capitol South and played at Cambridge on February 18th, at Wisconsin Heights on February 21st and will host Pardeeville on February 24th.

Monroe Cheesemakers Co-op Hockey Moves on to Regional Play

The Monroe Cheesemakers co-op hockey team played their final regular season game at McFarland on February 11th. The two teams were evenly matched and with a 3-3 tie at the end of the third period, went into OT where the Spartans scored a goal and won the game.

Knights Win Over Highway 69 Rival Wildcats

The New Glarus Glarner Knights hosted Deerfield on February 10th. With a 3-point lead at the half, and a 41-36 lead with 5 minutes to go in the game, New Glarus watched the win slip away as Deerfield went on a 17-0 run to finish the game. The final score was Deerfield 53, New Glarus 41.
Scoring 11 points to lead New Glarus was Nathan Streiff, while Darris Schuett scored 8 points and Mason Martinson put 7 on the board.
