Knights Undefeated in Conference

The New Glarus Knights boys basketball team traveled to Cambridge on February 4th. The Knights were leading 35-23 at the half and easily won the game, 68-48.
Leading the Knights with 18 points was Mason Martinson, while Nathan Streiff scored 14 points and Connor Siegenthaler scored 8 points in the win.
On Friday night, the Knights hosted Wisconsin Heights. Leading by 12 at the half, the Knights battled throughout the second half to maintain their lead and claim victory. New Glarus won, 77-65.

Lady Knights Suffer Tough Losses Last Week

The New Glarus Lady Knights hosted Fall River on February 3rd. Down by 9 at the half, New Glarus lost some momentum in the second half and lost the game. The final score was Fall River 57, New Glarus 38.
Leading New Glarus with 16 points was Jaylynn Benson, while Dylan Noll and Ellie Eichelkraut each scored 5 points.
On February 8th, the team hosted Appleton North. Trailing 19-36 at the half, New Glarus outscored the visitors in the second half but it was not enough to win. New Glarus lost, 47-62.

Ponies Sink Vikings

On February 4th, the Monticello Lady Ponies played at Barneveld. Down 14-23 at the half, the Ponies went on to lose the game, 32-44.
Miah Brokopp led the Ponies with 15 points, while Harley Disch scored 7 points and Sarah Blumer and Alexa Siegenthaler each scored 3 points.
The team fared better when they hosted Pecatonica on February 7th. Leading 32-14 at the half, the team cruised to a 51-31 victory over the Lady Vikings.
Leading the team with 14 points was Harley Disch, while Mackie Errthum scored 12 points and Maggie Bak put 11 points on the board.

Belleville Girls Basketball Takes Down New Glarus in Capitol South Conference Battle

On Thursday, February 6th, the Belleville Wildcats traveled to New Glarus to take on the Glarner Knights. The energy in the gym, along with having the game broadcast on the radio, made this a very special night.

Wildcats Win Two Games in a Row

On February 4th, the Belleville Wildcats headed to Waterloo to take on the Pirates. After leading by a single point at the half, the Wildcats pulled out a very close win over the Pirates, 49-46.
Carson Syse shot five 3-pointers to lead the team with 15 points, while Kody Fahey scored 11 points, including three 3-pointers, and Trevor Syse and Sawyer Fahey each scored 8 points for the Wildcats.
On February 7th, the Wildcats played at Marshall. Only leading by 2 at the half, the Wildcats held on for the 67-55 win.

Learn A Swiss Sport!

Starting March 2nd, the Swiss sport of Fahnenschwingen (Flag Throwing) will be taught to the youth of Green County at 6:00 p.m., in the New Glarus School MPR. We will meet for eight fun-filled classes to learn and further develop your flag throwing techniques.

Village of Monticello Needs to Address Water Concerns

The Monticello Village Board met on Wednesday, February 5, 2020, at 6:00 p.m. All board members were in attendance.
During the section for hearings, public appearances and citizen comments, Bart Nies of Delta 3 spoke to the board about the updates for the Waste Water Treatment Plant. He told board members that the measures taken approved in June of 2018 put the Village in line with the cost estimate for the updates.

Winter Bingo

Duppler-Smith American Legion Post #460 Belleville will be holding Winter Bingo on Sunday, February 23rd, and Sunday, March 29th.
Doors open at Noon, Bingo starts at 1:00 p.m. Cash Prizes determined by number of players. Food and refreshments served.
The Legion is located at 2 W. Pearl Street in Belleville.
