Hockey Team's Game Against Stoughton Ends in Tie

Seven days after their first meeting of the season, the Monroe Cheesemakers Co-op hockey team once again played the Madison Edgewood Crusaders, this time at LaBahn Arena. The outcome was the same, a loss, this time the Crusaders shut them out, 0-7.
Heath Bear had 45 saves on goal.
On January 28th, the Cheesemakers hosted Sauk Prairie, losing to the visitors 1-6.
Their only goal came in the 3rd period, courtesy of Cooper Dreyfus, assisted by Roman Bauer.
Heath Bear had 37 saves on goal.

Lady Knights Score Victory Over Heights

On Tuesday, January 28th, the New Glarus Knights girls basketball team played at home against Cambridge. The halftime score was 12-22 with Cambridge leading and while the Knights stepped it up in the second half, they lost the game, 42-47.
“The Knights struggled early to get things going offensively,” said Coach Kim Burton. “They didn’t box out well and weren’t rotating fast enough defensively.”

Knights Win Three in a Row

The New Glarus Knights boys basketball team played at Dodgeville on January 27th. Trailing by 3 at the half, the Knights persevered in the second half and won the game, 66-62.
Leading the Knights in scoring was Mason Martinson, who poured in 28 points for the team, while Nathan Streiff scored 14 points and Darris Schuett scored 10 points.
On January 30th, New Glarus hosted Waterloo. The Knights held an 11 point lead at the half, but Waterloo battled back in the second. New Glarus won a close game, 61-56.

Wildcats Win Battle Against Warriors

The Belleville Wildcats boys basketball team played at Brodhead on January 28th, losing 73-76. No further information was provided by press time.
On January 30th, the team hosted Wisconsin Heights. After trailing by 5 at the half, the Wildcats were unable to overcome the deficit and lost 77-80.
Carson Syse poured in 26 points to lead the Wildcats, while Sawyer Fahey scored 18 points and Kody Fahey scored 16 points.

Street Trees Available to New Glarus Residents

Village of New Glarus property owners interested in getting new terrace trees are invited to participate in the village’s 24th Annual Arbor Day Tree Planting. Plans are now under way for this spring’s planting, which will occur in early May.

Learn A Swiss Sport!

Starting March 2nd, the Swiss sport of Fahnenschwingen (Flag Throwing) will be taught to the youth of Green County at 6:00 p.m., in the New Glarus School MPR. We will meet for eight fun-filled classes to learn and further develop your flag throwing techniques.

Monroe Clinic Holds ^Art of Healing^" Art Reception Featuring New Glarus Art Students"

On Monday, February 3, 2020, Monroe Clinic hosted an art reception featuring New Glarus art students in the Monroe Clinic-New Glarus lobby. Pictured above are some of the Middle and High School students whose art is featured in the clinic. Monroe Clinic's ^Art of Healing^" exhibit provides patients and visitors with an enriched visual experience proven to advance healing through opportunities for reflection and artistic interpretation. The art will be on display until May 2020."

Monticello Community Club News

The Monticello Community Club has announced the 2020 Homecoming Ddates of July 10, 11, 12, 2020. Other news is 2020 board of officers: President Scott Babler, Vice President John Waelchli, Treasurer Carol Strause, and Secretary Wanda Wilkinson.
The board thanks all present and past members for all their hard work. In the last five years, the Monticello Community Club has donated more than $118,000 to the community, supporting the citizens and Village in many ways. Our largest and longest running support has been towards the rebuild of the Ballpark Concession Stand - $44,548.

Winter Bingo

Duppler-Smith American Legion Post #460 Belleville will be holding Winter Bingo on Sunday, February 23rd, and Sunday, March 29th. Doors open at Noon, Bingo starts at 1:00 p.m. Cash Prizes determined by number of players. Food and refreshments served.
