Village Offices Closed

On the evening of Tuesday, March 31st, the President of the Monticello Village Board Leaora Miller announced on a Facebook post that they had closed the village clerk’s office to the public on Monday, March 30, 2020, until further notice.
Miller noted that the recycling center would remain open its normal hours, Wednesdays from 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Residents are asked to remain in their vehicles until the attendant instructs them further and to follow all directions posted at the recycling center.

USDA Invests $4 Million in Rural Community Facilities in Dane and Green Counties

U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development State Director Frank Frassetto announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is investing $65 million to improve critical community facilities to benefit more than 600,000 rural residents in 14 states.

Varney Joins Belleville Fire Department as Junior Fire Fighter

Lance Varney was recently welcomed on board as a Junior Firefighter for the Belleville Fire Department. Lance's older brother, Tyler, is a full time member of the department and currently in the Marine Corps boot camp. Lance said he watched his brother join, train and become a fire fighter and wants to follow in his footsteps. We are all proud of our current and former military members and are excited to have a younger family member join us!

MATT G. WAINWRIGHT

Matt G. Wainwright, age 60, passed away at his home. He was born on February 9, 1960, the son of Richard and Lois (Blum) Wainwright.
Matt graduated from New Glarus High School in 1978. He then served in the United States Marine Corps Reserves. Matt worked for many people around New Glarus doing yardwork and maintenance.
Matt is survived by his daughter, Madelaine Wainwright; brothers, Mark (Susan) Wainwright, Michael (Susan) Wainwright, and Mitch (Ellie) Wainwright; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

As a Division of UW-Madison, Extension Green County employees are working with and following guidance from Campus leadership. To help limit the spread of the COVID-19 virus, UW-Madison employees are required to telecommute and not work from a shared office space such as a county building. This directive was put into effect on March 16, 2020.
