Hardwood Trees for Planting Spring 2021

Fall is almost over. It’s time to think spring. Think spring tree planting. The Green County Land & Water Conservation Department is offering 10 varieties of trees and three varieties of shrubs for landowners interested in planting trees next spring. The tree varieties are: Bur Oak, Red Oak, White Oak, Swamp White Oak, Sugar Maple, Black Walnut, American Plum, American Arborvitae, White Pine, and Norway Spruce. Shrubs available are: Redosier Dogwood, American Hazelnut, and Common Ninebark.

Troop 106 Holds Court of Honor

Boy Scouts Troop 106 had a Court of Honor on Sunday, November 1st, where the Scouts received their rank advancements, merit badges and other awards that they have earned since the first of the year. The boys are all looking forward to getting back outdoors and working with the four new Scouts that have joined the Troop when the current restrictions are lifted.

Monticello Foundation Awards Scholarships

The Board of Directors of The Monticello Foundation, Inc., met October 12th and voted to award twelve scholarships in the amount of $2,000 each to Monticello alumni currently in college. Congratulations to these deserving students: Claire Klossner, Hannah Zanow, Jordan (Zweifel) Tiede, Megan Lehr, Jessie Garrison, Emily Koch, Katie (Kubly) Marti, Courtney Leuzinger, Veronica Blumer, Heidi (Rieder) Kassebaum, Brittany Disch, and Alaya Hummel. This brings the total amount awarded in 2020 to $40,000, and the total amount awarded since 1995 to $449,750!

Giving Thanks: Dane County Calls on Community to Join ^Cards for Health Care Heroes^" Campaign"

Families and kids across Dane County and the surrounding areas are encouraged to color, draw, and write notes of thanks and encouragement to health care workers this Thanksgiving holiday, as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to worsen. Dane County Executive Joe Parisi announced recently the “Cards for Health Care Heroes,” campaign, an effort to recognize the tireless and challenging work that thousands of doctors, nurses, specialists, emergency services responders and providers are doing in this community every hour of every day.
