Drive Through Tailgate to Go

On Sunday, October 18, the First United Church of Christ of Belleville held a drive-thru Tailgate To Go. Thank you to the many community members and families who turned out to support the event. While we had planned for an 11:30 a.m. start time, tailgaters were anxious to get their pre-game going and we started taking orders at 11:00 a.m. We sold out of our 300 meal deals and had over 150 additional individual brat/hot dog sandwiches sold as well. Many tailgaters also graciously donated additional funds or their change.

Lady Ponies End Conference Play With an 8-3 Record

On October 19th, the Monticello Lady Ponies volleyball team played at Black Hawk. They lost in five, 25-20; 25-18; 25-27; 24-26; 4-15.
Ellie Gustafson had 26 kills and 20 digs, while Hannah Clark had 8 kills and 6 blocks, Katelyn Eyler had 6 aces, Alexa Siegenthaler had 28 assists and Macey Grant had 24 digs.
The Lady Ponies ended conference play with a record of 8-3.
On October 20th, the team hosted a WIAA Regional game against Benton. Monticello won in three, 25-6; 25-12; 25-19.

^Honk Honk^" New Glarus Halloween Parade"

On Saturday, October 31, 2020, a Halloween Parade was held in New Glarus. The cars, trucks, ambulances, fire trucks, police cars, as well as a number of local Dairy Queens, wound through town, honking their horns and waving at bystanders.

New Glarus Christkindli Market 2020

The New Glarus Christkindli Market will make its first appearance in downtown New Glarus December 11-13, 2020! This outdoor Christmas market will host multiple vendors offering a variety of high quality, locally made and sourced gifts, along with Christmas decorations and foods, all housed in wooden open-air chalets. Shop local and support hometown businesses, while enjoying Christmas lights and music.

Green's Prairie to Hold Dedication and Veterans Ceremony on November 11

The Green’s Prairie Cemetery Association (GPCA) invites the public to join them for a brief, outdoor, socially distanced ceremony November 11, 2020, at 11:00 a.m., to dedicate three new flagpoles and honor Veterans past and present, especially those interred at the cemetery.

Public Review of Materials for WIS 92 Resurfacing in Dane and Green Counties

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is seeking public input on improvements along WIS 92 from Belleville to Brooklyn in Green and Dane counties.
The project – scheduled for construction in 2024 – will consist of resurfacing WIS 92 and updating curb ramps within the project area to meet current ADA standards. Beam guard installations will also be up upgraded as needed. The highway will remain open to traffic with flagging operations.

Annual New Glarus FFA Fruit Sale

It’s that time of the year again! The New Glarus FFA will be offering a virtual option to purchase fruit and would greatly appreciate your support by purchasing fruit, beef sticks or cheese from the annual fruit sale. Funds raised will go towards events such as chapter meetings, Ag Day at the elementary school, conferences, Leadership Development Events, and Career Development Events.

New Officer at New Glarus Police Department

The New Glarus Village Board approved the hiring of Nicholas Bartelt as an officer for the New Glarus Police Department. Officer Bartelt (pictured above with Lt. Jeff Sturdevant) lives in Mt. Horeb and has one year of experience as a police officer, according to the New Glarus Police Department. He began work in New Glarus on October 21, 2020.

Copeland and Fong Recognized as National Rural and Small Town Scholars

This fall, the College Board released its National Rural and Small Town Scholars as part of their recognition program. New Glarus High School had two students who were recognized as National Rural and Small Town Scholars. Seniors Ben Copeland and Merrick Fong were both recognized as National Rural and Small Town Scholars.
