The Ninth Annual Turkey Drop is Here

Please join the high school and middle school students in helping provide turkeys to those in need so that they too can have a happy “Turkey Day!”
Please help us reach our goal of 50 birds!! You can donate turkeys and other Thanksgiving meal fixings to Burreson’s, or come to the corner of Main Street and Frederick Street (the old parking lot of Francois Ford) to drop off your turkey on Friday, November 13, 2020, from 4:30 p.m.-7:00 p.m.

Marjorie Rhue Marty, age 89 of New Glarus, died on Saturday, October 31, 2020, at Agrace HospiceCare, Inc. in Fitchburg, WI. She was born on December 31, 1930, in Nocona, TX, the daughter of Appie and Pearl (Bynum) Molsbee.

Jason Wayne Grossen, age 44 of Monticello, passed away on Friday, October 30, 2020, at the Monroe Clinic Hospital. He was born the son of James and Debra (Boley) Grossen on March 3, 1976, in Monroe.
Jason attended Monticello High School with the class of 1995.
Jason worked for Wirth Concrete and Landscaping. He enjoyed deer hunting and fishing; he specially loved to watch his son, Hunter, play sports. He also spent countless hours with his best friend, David Wirth.

<strong>November 7, 1945</strong>
S. Sgt. Herbert Wise has returned from Europe. He is at Madison visiting his wife and small daughter, Jane Ann, who is seriously ill at the Wisconsin General Hospital. Herbert made the trip home on a Coty Victory ship.
S. Sgt. Fred Kopp landed in the States last week from the Pacific war area. His younger brother, Harold, was in the Navy at Sampan, New York, and received his discharge about a month ago. They are sons of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Kopp, Evansville, formerly of New Glarus.

National Prescription Drug Take Back

As part of the National Prescription Drug Take Back Initiative, Belleville Police Chief Bill Eichelkraut and New Glarus Police Lt. Jeff Sturdevant went to the DeForest State Patrol Headquarters to turn over the collected prescription medication from both villages. The focus of the initiative is to remove potentially dangerous pharmaceutical substances from the state's medicine cabinets and preventing them from going into the water supply.

Nominations Open for Wildcat Wall of Fame

The Wildcat Wall of Fame Committee is now accepting nominations for induction for 2021. Nominees must meet one of three criteria:
1) A Belleville High School graduate (at least 10 years removed from graduation).
2) A School District of Belleville employee, administrator, school board member, coach, or advisor (with at least 10 years of service to the district).
3) A community member or volunteer with significant contributions to the school district.

Green County Habitat Store Expands Hours

Green County's Habitat for Humanity store in Monroe has extended its hours to include Wednesdays.
New store hours are Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 12:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m.; Saturday, 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. The store is located at 305 2nd Street N, Monroe.
Increased donations, heavier customer traffic and record sales warranted the change, according to Store Manager, Bobby Cassell.
The new schedule will go until the end of November, when management will decide whether to cut back for winter.
